My primary play instrument since I was 9 is tenor sax, but I play all sax varieties including soprano, clarinet, flute and trumpet. One of the hardest skills is being able to double tongue - quickly and barely flicking the tip of the tongue over the tip of the reed so as to quickly stop vibration only but not altogether or disrupt air flow (you do this when playing things like rapid succession staccato notes (16th or 32nd notes).
I've gotten marriage proposals out of my ability to double tongue.

Aaaaahhhhh the eighties:
Brink of Nuclear War with the Soviets
AIDS
Crack Cocaine
Introduction of vehicle emissions
Hostages returned from Iran
Chrysler introduces the K car
Madonna
ATM introduced
Good call but The Police Invisible Sun video bests sums up the eighties.
My favorite one artistically is the Talking Heads video. But the video that I think sums up the '80s best is this:

Aside from guitar, I still have and play a tenor sax as well. With the sax, your tongue needs to be as nimble as your fingers need to be for guitar. That is where all of the expression of the sound comes from. Double tonguing requires a lot of practice, but once mastered, brings you to the next level in terms of the sounds you can produce. And, with regard to your marriage proposals, the technique brings out great compliments during a wide array of activities.

I haven't picked up a trumpet in over a decade but I'm fairly confident I could master it again in no time due to tonguing practice during other activities.
I started playing flute in the sixth grade and still play a couple of times a week. My mission before I die however is to learn oboe. I love the sound of that instrument.
But for 80's elaborate productions I have to give it to MJ.
I am SO going to the next flash mob that does this in DC!!!! I already learned the routine....there are several lessons online and I already learned it. Just need a frackin' flash mob in DC and I'm there!!!

Ahhhhh grasshoppah - Duran Duran held the record for the million dollar plus extravaganza that was The Wild Boys video, directed by Russell Mulcahy, yes the same guy who directed Highlander (as well as a whack load of DD videos, from Rio to Save a Prayer to Hungry Like the Wolf).
Godley and Creme were responsible for Girls on Film.
Why yes, I am a Duranie, why do you ask?

Okay, I had my Wheaties (also from the 80's) so I'm going to disagree with you here. However I will admit my proof is from the inflation adjusted column.
