OK I don't understand all of this at all.

BlackBerry is in a dire situation. No investors come out wanted to purchase the company as whole. Many interested only certain parts of the company(though Lenovo a China owned company did express interest, for political reason I don't think the Canadian Government would approve the sales). If BlackBerry sells in parts, it's spell the dead of the company. They are other interested party like Fair Fax and former CEO Mike Lazaridis. Unfortunately, neither party can come up with the money from different financial institutions to purchase BlackBerry and take them into privatization(no public scrutiny). Instead Fairfax chairman Prem Watsa willing to loan a billion dollar to BlackBerry and bring in John Chen as the interim CEO and Thorstein Heins is done as of end of today. I do not know much about Chen except who was a successfull CEO of another company and also at one time wanted to purchase BlackBerry but like the others fail to come up with the money. This is just a layman term that I can explain, you'll probably have to read from Chris Umiastowski in the main forum. He has a much better understanding of who is who and what does all this mean to BlackBerry as a company.
