When I get done dropping this trailer, I pick up one to turn in and go down to Lafayette, Indiana and pick up a brand new one from the factory down there. We're still replacing old trailers at a fast clip, when I came to the company, we had just a few of the new skirted trailers. We've added almost six thousand in less than 3 years. None of our equipment is financed, either. They buy every one outright. A thousand or more at a time.

They need their tax deductions.

Well, that, and some of our customers won't load a trailer more than ten years old. It's a safety issue, dependent on how they load them. Once a trailer reaches that age, the combination of road chemicals, road abuse, and general wear and tear makes a trailer break possible. I've seen trailers snapped in half on a heavy load before.
