Story time. So I travel a lot, and by a lot I mean I was gone for 9 months last year. So last year I'm at a courtyard in Stuart,fl (one of the most miserable places on earth if you are under 85 yrs old). I'm sitting outside by the fire pit since it's one of the new trendy courtyards with the bistro bar. Minding my own business enjoying a cocktail when a couple of ladies come and join me. So now there is a young couple, myself, and two "ladies" there. We all start shooting the sh1t about nothing particular and blondie (as she will be referred to from here on) starts talking about her love of '80s hair bands. We all continue to drink and I make a few off color jokes about her choice in music. She's clearly pi$$ed at me now, but I continue anyway. Young couple starts in with the public displays of affection and decide that they did in fact get a room, so they leave. A few more random people show up, and then blondie decides to start being a little flirty. Next thing I know, she's sitting on my lap and being a little beyond flirty. We decide to grab some drinks from the suite shop since the bar closed, head back out by the fire for another smoke before "retiring for the evening". She's being way flirty now, decides it's a good time to mention her husband, and then quickly goes back into telling me nsfw things. We're both hammered so it's all good, and by good I mean we're definitely going to he'll but it seemed like a good idea at the time. She stands up as we decide it's time for night night, and proceeds to.........




Fall directly into the fire pit!!!!!!! I jump up and pull her out, and she was literally on fire! Drunk a$$ me is smakimg her in the head to put out the flames! I finally get the fire under control and then she wants to continue..... I took the high road and passed. She was a little concerned about explaining why she was missing most of her hair to her husband . True story....

Ok so here goes, bare with me it's a long story....

I've been back to PA(where I grew up) twice in the last couple of months. I met up with an old friend that I haven't seen in 7+ years. She just moved back there since she hit her heat at work and got a pretty bad concussion. So we hung out a few times, etc, basically just caught up and had some laughs. She mentions that she was planning on going to FL while I would be there. We decided to meet up and hang out.

Seemed harmless enough, plus it wad going to be nice to have a friend around. Helps with the boredom of endless travel.

She finally showed up in Lauderdale. We grabbed a cool hotel at the beach, the weather was great, and I was looking forward to a nice break from working my off. The first two days went well enough. Then on the second night we're sitting out on the balcony having cocktails, and out of no where she says "why haven't you complimented me yet?" I pretty much thought it was a joke and really didn't know what to say. She then starts crying and saying "you aren't nice to me" "I need to say one nice thing to me right now!!!" "why are you so mean" and all kinds of other random gibberish. Figuring that alcohol was to blame plus her being an overly sensitive person to begin with, I tried to defuse the situation. Needless to say, it didn't work and she started yelling at me and told me to leave the room. I told her maybe it's best that we cut our losses and go our separate ways. She then proceeds to apologizes, and winds up telling me tons of "heavy" personal stuff. She apparently was beaten by an ex roommate for absolutely no reason, and then the same thing happened with an ex boyfriend a short time after. She explained that between the head injury and the past incidents, that she gets overly upset.

So like a dumb , I agree to let her stay a little while longer. Everything was normal and we even joked about what happened. We check out of the hotel and move on to a nice big boat that a friend of mine was nice enough to let us crash on. The weather took a turn for the worse and it rained off and on for the next few days. Other than the beach, restaurants, bars, and boats Lauderdale is not the most exciting place to hang out. Especially in the rain. We decided to started looking at flights for her since I was supposed to leave for CA, and found a great deal leaving Sunday which was a few days out. No problem, everything still seems ok at this point.

Then Wednesday rolls around, which also happens to be her birthday. It happens to be pouring rain but I walk down to Starbucks to grab our coffee. I was even nice enough to walk over to Einstein's to grab her a bagel. She said thanks, but seemed a little bummed out. I chalked it up to the rain... Trying to be the happy go lucky guy I am, I asked what she would like to do for the day. The response I get "I don't know what there is to do!! I want to go to the beach but that's not happening!"

My thoughts at this point? Rhut Rho Rhaggy!!! I knew right then and there it was all going down hill really fast. I kept my cool, and played nice. The rain let up and the sun came out. A good sign? There's always hope.

Lunchtime rolls around, and I ask if there is anywhere she feels like going. Says she wants to have lunch at the beach. So we start driving when I harmlessly ask what she was in the mood for. The response? "I'm don't know what's there!!! I'm not the one who has lived here for 7 months!!!". Oh crap, here we go..... Calmly and politely I explain that I don't make it to the beach and maybe we could drive and see somewhere that interested us. She apologizes again, and the crisis seems to be averted. We had a nice lunch, went to the Hard Rock Casino for a while, and then found a nice little Italian place for dinner.

My thoughts now? Have a nice dinner, keep cool. No use letting things get worse with only a few hours to go.
