An assault rifle is by definition an AUTOMATIC weapon, a weapon that is capable of sustained automatic fire. That is it will fire rounds as long as the trigger is held or until the weapon runs out of ammunition. This is what is commonly known as a machine gun and there is NO retail outlet anywhere in the United States that sells these. The mere possession of an AUTOMATIC WEAPON without proper licensing in the United States is a major felony.
What you can buy in the states is a civilian version of the aforementioned. The difference and it is a big one that apparently gets lost on most is that these are SEMI-AUTOMATIC weapons. They require the trigger to be pulled for each round fired. In that prism they are no different from any other civilian allowable firearm.
Assault rifle is an asinine term conjured up by wordsmiths to make a point that does not exist and to push an agenda that they would not be able to were it not for perverting the meaning of things to their advantage and relying on peoples passion which far outweigh their ability to reason.

Professionally (Fleet Equipment Specialist) speaking I am not aware of any inherent problems with any of them. They all have relatively good quality build and quality control. Going to sound like we are talking about a phone here but it really comes down to preference, price, insurance rates and the terms of the deal. I have never worked at a Honda dealership but I have worked on them, in fact a friend has one that I told him to get rid of ten years ago. Eventually he did but gave it to his son who still drives it. On the other hand I have a lot of experience with Toyota having worked at the dealer for a couple of years. The main thing I did while there was scheduled maintenance with the occasional breakdown repair.
Personally I would recommend the Toyota as I have a fondness for them but I would buy the Sequoia. It's bigger, badder and a h3ll of a lot faster than the Rav4. Unfortunately it's also a lot more expensive to buy, insure and to drive. I also judge my personal vehicle by the view from the drivers seat and I like Toyota's designs.
I do stand by this as the truck in the pic is mine.
