Here's a suggestion: If anyone feels motivated to respond to anyone else's opinion based post, then do so. However, keep the responses short. Break them up across multiple posts with each one conveying or commenting on only a single focused thought, point, position or argument.

That way things better contribute to the flow and goal of the thread, and also more constructive debate.

....we all need to do "you do you" and don't worry about what others do so much....
As long as when people do that it doesn't enfringe upon the rights of others (or seem like it will eventually enfringe upon the rights of others), and as long as it doesn't enfringe (or seem like it will eventually enfringe) on the collective overall human and global responsibilities we all have as individuals and nations on this same planet and in this same universe we all exist in, then fine.

That’s more or less what I’m saying. Unfortunately sovereign nations do have different objectives, goals and responsibilities to it’s citizens. I’m not referring to just USA or Canada in this context. So while I’d like peace, harmony, rainbows and puppy dog tails, it’s not a probable expectation.

Agree, and that's also why sometimes nations go to war with each other, or why within nations there is civil war.

I'm happy for you in that you can find humour in another 1000+ Covfefe-19 related deaths in America today.
Not humorous but just part of the deaths we deal with every year for a variable of reasons. It eventually happens. We’re all dying from the moment of birth. That’s not even just a human thing.

I follow your logic Chuck, but I think even you'd agree that where human death can reasonably be prevented then actions to prevent such should be taken.

No different than regular flu, seatbelts, texting while driving and so forth. I believe in seatbelts, short reply texts while stopped at red lights and I don’t usually don’t get flu shots annually.

I’m pretty much like everyone around me here. We take precautions but we have population density in our country

Texting while stopped doesn't impact anyone else (in my opinion). Texting while driving I think infringes on potential injury and death to others.

Not wearing seatbelts doesn't directly impact others. However, increased risk of injury to self from not wearing seatbelts has potential to add strain and costs on the system, and depending on the system/model, has potential to indirectly impacts others due to increased costs that now have to be shared also by others (eg: for policing, emergency response/recovery, health care, insurance, etc...).

Not getting flu shots has potential impact to others, unless one stays completely isolated from others.

I am assuming most people agree that COVID-19 is a fair bit different than regular flu.

..didn't. This year is different. Aggressive flu shot campaigns in Ontario is aiming this year to reduce strain on the Ontario Health Care system, to ensure there is enough capacity for COVID-19, and to reduce the number of flu issues that would otherwise be confused mixed in with possible COVID-19.

But that’s my point. I’ve been treating as really bad flu. I’m at moderate risk. I had minimal to moderate asthma that required medication as kid but not inhalers. Now I’m 50, average health, fully aware that I suffered minimal but some lung damage as young person from 4-13 years old.

I also had mild SARS back in 2009 but it lasted for me off and on about 6-8 months. The really sick part was about ten days, the breathing and coughing issues lasted for rest of 6-8 months.

But I haven’t stopped pushing my luck.
