Very cool! I would think your skills are still very much in demand. You too, bakron. Aren't you both glad to have done the traveling you did when you could? Who knew...

Installing and servicing access control /surveillance systems in casinos, did the same thing for army and Air Force bases world wide. but willing to do the same in commercial properties as long as I can travel nationwide.

It was and I can say I enjoyed doing it, sometimes working 7 days a week, 12-13 hours a day to get a system installed to meet production schedules was stressful, but I was fortunate to have worked with some very talented folks who had the same work ethic as I did.

I also enjoyed doing technical training and writing. I still do very small projects for a couple of long time clients to keep my brain fresh.

The sad part is, there are no young people to replace folks like me and even my clients back in Detroit are concerned for the future.

But, I am going to be 65 in December and a heart patient now and I watch over my twin brother as he does me and we are going to enjoy life here in Florida and let the young folks worry about it.
Kudos to you and congrats for still doing what you enjoy doing.

Indeed, I’m 56. Just had a ruptured colon back in December but ready to go back on the road. Nothing beats traveling the world/country at someone else’s expense. Lol

It's not the humidity. It's all the slick ceramic tile down here.

They gave me like a month or two of medical. That was back in March. Luckily my wife is on disability so no worries with her. Hopefully I’ll be able to stay healthy until I get a job. Lmao
Not sure about Florida but if your income is below a certain level you can get medicaid

I feel for you. Any time I feel the need to curse the way things are sometimes at work, I remember how many people suddenly found themselves without an income 6 months ago, and consider I'm lucky to still be working. It doesn't help my ego, but it's a different world now and I've sacrificed a bit of ego for the ability to keep getting my teeth cleaned.

Interesting work, I designed and programmed controls systems for large automated tooling systems used in the automotive and manufacturing sector.

I traveled the world including Russia, China, Japan, Korea, Europe, UK, Mexico and South America. I met a lot of interesting people and opened my eyes to the rest of the world.

Now I am semi retired and do technical writing and develop maintenance documentation for the automated systems I once designed for a couple of long time clients.
