NBA postpones tonight’s games because players are discussing boycotting more than just tonight. I could see them walking away from the playoffs. I wouldn’t blame them if they did.

NBA postpones tonight’s games because players are discussing boycotting more than just tonight. I could see them walking away from the playoffs. I wouldn’t blame them if they did.

The sad part is they're hurting their own support for the cause.

Whether, professional athletes or professional musicians, their opinions aren't necessarily asked for by their fans. Similar to when Hollywood stars were posting about sheltering in place. At some point, they're ridiculed because they really can't relate with their supporters anymore.

I'd suggest playing the games but incorporating some different actions that humanize them in a different way. Their message is becoming lost

Why? The popularity of NFL and NBA has waned the last couple of years before all the current strife. The fan base and the players can all support the same ideas but the fan base doesn’t seem to want the overlap.

It doesn’t matter to me because I’m not into sports. However, both my daughters are into sports and the politicization has caused their peer group to unusually ignore both. We have Tom Brady, the Gronk and some other celebrities and very little interest...... Just an observation when the kids disconnect

What does my profession have to do with anything regarding my post? ZERO

I’m making an observation regarding my teenage children and their athletic interests. There’s plenty of agreement in the culture of sports management and related players managers as well. Society as whole is experiencing mental fatigue and when that happens, people stop caring about everything but the most immediate concerns which are just their own. Societal problems just become an unnecessary distraction.
