In the US we had/have the identical thing, only called "Cliff Notes". I was putting you on, spARTacus, I knew what you meant.
Cole's Notes was a famous book franchise series when I was growing up. They had a Cole's Notes edition for things like: Macbeth, One Flew Over the Cookoo's Nest, Lord of the Flies, 1984, .... and practically every other novel that one was supposed to read in school. The students who couldn't get through the book would buy the Cole's Notes version, which would tell them everything they needed to know about the book, without having to read it. It became a phrase meant "what's the short version explanation" .

Yes, it seems Cole's probably ripped off the idea from Cliff, or something like that.

Funny you should mention that. I haven't seen much ground chuck in the stores in the last couple of months. It all seems to be 90% or 73%. Can't find the 80%.

Ehem yes. There were lawsuits a-plenty when that bar on Congress Street opened with the Cheers name and logo.

Those of us who knew better continued to go to the Bullfinch pub in Beacon Hill, which was the actual model for the Cheers bar. Some of the exterior shots early in the series are recognisable. I think it closed a few years ago but I remember their Bloody Mary as one of the best I'd ever had.

Many cooks insist that if meat is too lean, it's worse tha having too much fat. Dries the meat out, especially on a grill.

Not originally, but the building was renovated and the developer decided to cash in on the celebrity of a show supposedly taking place in Boston. Trouble is, people who KNEW what Cheers was based on avoided the glitzy new place. The only people who went there were tourists who recognised the logo. But it was all fake.

No I think I was referring to the BullFinch pub one. Not sure though. Last time I was in Boston was probably some time between 1994 and 1998.
