I'm curious too. From my angle I would be looking at how hard it was to clean his favorite locomotive
There’s a question I never thought I’d see in this lifetime. Glad I was wrong. Very curious to hear the answer.

I planted that 28 years ago as an 18 inch seedling. Pretty close to 80 feet tall now.
    What kind is it?

Anything EMD. SD70 low nose, standard cab was my favorite until the SD70MAC. Best dynamic brake I ever used. Could bring a train, under the right conditions, to a complete stop without using the trainline air or the independent brake. This was my ride on my last day of work.
What was your favorite locomotive over the years?

Can't quite make out the model number under the window, but it is an SD70MAC.

Actually, the late model GE AC units were also pretty good. Much better than the DC units. Much more responsive.

The early SD70's were 2 stroke but the latest generation has 4 strokes, right? EMD is another story, no longer owned by GM but is now owned by Progress Rail a division of Caterpillar.

That’s it. What a bargain!! If privately owned, how does one get permission to drive one across the various rail systems pulling couple sleeper 3-4 living/sleeping cars? LMAO

While I’m sure not possible, for me that’d be cool...

Yeah, good luck with that! However, it may be a bit cheaper to buy a private passenger rail car. Either completely refurbished or do it yourself with bedrooms and a kitchen. Just add it to the rear of an Amtrak train and go where they take you. Yes, that is a real thing.
