We should make identifying an aircraft a sport. Come on Alaska, feed us more!
There used to be a really good BBM channel called Avionography. It was all about that, but mainly for Airliners (commercial people carriers). I think it still exists as a website, but I think the guy abandoned the BBM channel a long time ago.

So one time when I went to Dominican Republic our return flight was delayed, problem with the aircraft. We sat in the airport for hours (nothing there in the small Dominican Republic airport) as we waited, for later we realize the next incoming flight from Montreal (AirTransat). On the flight, some of us figured out they sent an engine tech. So the incoming flight comes in, the engine tech gets off and goes out on the tarmac and starts to work on our plane. He opens up the engine (looked similar to your picture but the engine of course still in there) and fumbles around with something for 20 minutes, then he closes it up, then we board and off we go back to Canada. On the return flight he (the engine tech) was crashed out across the seats of the last row. They basically sent him off on a service call down to the Dominican Republic and back.

This was the same trip where we almost didn't get there. On the outbound flight, we take off and start our accent and all of a sudden I feel the pilot power back and a couple of us start to look around at each other cause we know that something is up (but probably 90% of the passengers are clueless). Then the pilot comes on and says the navigation system isn't working and we'll have to return. Then he comes on a few minutes later and says that maybe they can reboot it. Then a few minutes later we feel the plane power back up and finally he comes back on and says we are back on our way.

I have never had a clean AirTransat trip. Another time on AirTransat we were hours late leaving Toronto because of a "mechanical problem". A few of us watched as they brought one of those stair-trucks up to the plane and then had a few guys start to screw around with the cockpit windshield. Then they told us it was going to be a few more minutes as they fixed the windshield but by now the guys with the truck had already packed up and left and it was obvious they weren't coming back. They kept telling us it would be a few more minutes as they fixed the mechanical problem (but it was obvious to those that were paying attention that no one was working on the plane). Finally a bunch of hours later, another AirTransat flight arrived from somewhere and de-planned and then they put us on that airplane to get us departed, while our plane just continued to sit there. I am convinced that sometimes the airlines specifically don't fully tell the the gate crew what's going on as a strategy to not have to fully deal with passengers for the real situation details.

Sounds like you shouldn't be booking any more flights on AirTransat.
