Well, Norway actually did it right decades ago. Now every single Norwegian has $200,000 held in trust from the royalties earned from oil but now they are divesting from Big Oil and moving money into renewables. That's impressive

So how does the Canadian Carbon tax work? 4 cents a litre on gas (18 cents a gallon) in year one. 8 cents in year two, 12 cents in year three, 16 cents in year four. BUT you get an income tax credit of $170 in year one, $340 in year two and so one. Even people who don't drive gets this credit. Drive a small gasoline car you get money back. Drive electric you don't pay anything and get a full credit. Don't drive at all and take public transit, you don't pay at all. Encouraging to see companies like Ford making commitments to be offering a minimum of 50% by 2022 of all cars sold to be hybrid or electric.

BTW if you drive a Dodge Ram 6.7 litre powerboost turbo to work, you'll be paying...
