It was like a music war.

I was really annoyed.

Unless you live in a cave, there's a noise ordinance. You call the police and complain, they come out and stop the noise and you remain anonymous. During the day, you make the management aware. There are laws and rules that protect the tenant.
Google "Tenant/Landlord" in your state. I am the only Advocate for Tenants Rights Alaska has ever had. And I was an advocate for tenants right in Santa Cruz County for years.

You ever consider Otterbox to protect your device? Or is 40 to 60 bucks to much to spend on an 800 dollar device?
or for about $100. you can repair the damage at your local cellular repair shop.

I went with All Weather Tires on my AWD 2017 KIA Sportage. Not sure what to call it though. It's somewhere between "a soccer mom and a bowling dad" vehicle.

replace the screen... so you're down to about 550 plus activation fees, prorated cancellation fees. New data and calling plan fees and they charge you double because they have the extra month and you still have to pay the difference for the S8+ So, all told, you're better off selling your phone to the repair shop paying off the difference with verizon and buying a new "unlocked" S8+ or S9+ and you'll actually save a considerable amount of money.
Just ask Jackd to do the math. No doubt The Muppet will offer some nonsense but I suspect you'll ignore his advice like you ignore mine!

i do not want an otterbox cover....too bulky. I want something that makes it easy to slip into my purse....not one that requires a forklift to carry
