They sell it now in bars and liquor stores. Is it still illegal in Canada?

I typically prefer either beer rather than other "malt beverages".

If not beer, I like bourbon.

The only wine I'll have is a glass of champagne for a New Year's toast.
The nastiest stuff I ever loved: 100 Proof Southern Comfort.

Gotta research this, thought it was banned everywhere as it is a dangerous hallucinogen.

The hallucinogenic properties were highly over-rated.

The folks in the 19th century that supposedly went crazy from absinthe most likely were smoking opium and went crazy from the opium.

I stick to vodka for general social drinking and beer with a meal. But if I'm having red meat or Italian food, I'll go with a Cabernet or Merlot. Whatever I start with is what I end with. My days of mixing are long over.

Maybe you could get Kevin to participate in a similar event if they have one where he lives.
    HORY CRAP!

If BB10 gets an official release date in mid March, it would be perfect since he's growing his hair out until release! I'll have to wait and see when we get the date.

Actually, I did contact Kevin the first time I did this event to ask if I could start a thread about it, asking for donations. He graciously said yes (as long as there was a link to an official organization and that no money came to me -- straight to the organization) and that he was hoping to set up an area in the forums for this sort of thing. That was 3-4 years ago, so I don't know if he decided against it or has just been too busy. Either way, I'm just happy he allowed me to do it.

Now that I think about it, I haven't started a thread about it since that first year, so I'll have to do another one this year.

I was disappointed in Bowie but loved NIN.

    No mixing for me either!

I usually don't have anything alcoholic with Italian food, since I'm not fond of wine. I'll have espresso afterward, though.

I've tried it and do like it.

My favorite is Dragon's Milk Stout, though.

It's better if prepared the traditional way, just pouring water over the sugar cube. Lighting the sugar cube on fire ruins the flavor.

Back when Absinthe was still illegal in the US, I read an article about it in Maxim and a few buddies and I ordered a bottle from Portugal.

Was ok. Definitely not as hallucenogenic as people say. I'd just say it was a different kind of drunk. Kind of like a high-drunk combo.

When it was still illegal, I went on a Tremont Art Walk. One artist distilled his own absinthe and offered it to folks who came to the gallery to look at his art. This was around 1994, when the Tremont Art Walk was still pretty new, and the Tremont neighborhood was still rather rough and not gentrified like it is now.

The ruins of the Lincoln Park Bath House were still not yet converted to condos, so I did some "urban exploring" with my friends.

I've also heard that it was possibly infiltrates/contaminates from the moonshine-grade Absinthe people were trying to make in their homes.

BTW, "Tremont" is a new name for the neighborhood. Long time residents call it the Southside.
