The grass will take care of itself. Let it go and the coming high temperatures will turn it into straw and it'll lay right down.
There's an area in L..A. around Pico Blvd. ( not the best area) where the custom is to have lots of statues in front of the house and they gravel in the grassy area and paint it green.
