Well, I have an HP Compaq v6000 laptop (running vista basic), and now for some odd reason, it thinks that it doesn't have a wifi radio anymore. What I mean by this is that when I flip the wireless switch on, it only says bluetooth enabled/disabled. I checked various settings in the control panel, including the hp wireless asistant, and the wifi just seems to have disappeared. I have restarted my laptop several times and even restored it to a week ago and no luck. Everything seems to be working fine though including my router. Thanks!

Do you know how to check your device manager? The driver may have become corrupt and needs to be reinstalled.
