Tax evasion. In the US a company pays 40% tax. In Canada the same company will pay only 25%

They're buying Timmy Ho's and moving their head office to Canada for the tax break

Is sad to me that these very profitable corporations are so opposed to paying their share of taxes.

So who determines what their share of taxes is? What is a fair share?

I hope if they do buy it that that they don't screw it up. Hearing you Canadians talk about Tim Horton's is funny.

From what I heard on CP24 today..they are merging..no one's buying the other.

Timmies is having a hard time expanding in the US..so this will definitely help.

Coffee and burgers, fine. I'm looking forward to the Donut Burger, and don't think it won't happen! Look at the maple pancake ham and cheese breakfast sandwich. At least we'll be able to use tap to pay Nfc with our phones.

It's actually going to be ran as two separate companies.

Also BK management had been doing an incredible job, bringing BK back from extinction.

I think this would have huge international expansion potential for TH and BK

BK all but died in the two Cities I came from, oh and the only one I know of in Hamilton is in a mall. As much as I like Whoppers, I don't want them with my Timmies.

Also, Timmies is Canadian, and I don't want anymore US buying Canadian things and Americanizing them.

Might as well, become the 52nd state with all the crap Conservatives do.

Helping corporations and not small businesses. Pfft.

Not a big fan of harper but I don't think we can pin this on him. And if anything it seems the legal entity will be paying taxes here, which is good for us.

Tim Hortons used to belong to Wendys. It was spun off. So this is rather "yawn, been there, done that" for them.

BK posted this today after every news outlet reported they were fleeing the US.

We hear you. We’re not moving, we’re just growing and finding ways to serve you better.

As part of the announcement made today, both Burger King Corp. and Tim Hortons will continue to operate as independent brands. We’ll just be under common ownership. Our headquarters will remain in Miami where we were founded more than 60 years ago and business will continue as usual at our restaurants around the world.

The decision to create a new global QSR leader with Tim Hortons is not tax-driven – it’s about global growth for both brands. BKC will continue to pay all of our federal, state and local U.S. taxes.

We’re proud of the heritage of Burger King and will maintain our long-standing commitment to our employees, franchisees and the local communities we serve.

    The WHOPPER isn’t going anywhere.
