    Seriously people, it's not hard:

    THEN - Incorrect: I would rather use a Z10 then an S4
THEN - Correct: If you use this word correctly then I won't feel the need to drop-kick a baby.

Maddening, isn't it? I'm an English teacher and the language abuse is horrendous. But we cannot assume that all who post are native English speakers. Therefore, we need to be tolerant!!
But thanks for posting and making me laugh so early in the morning!

Correct, perhaps only in the context of 'In which order would you like to use these two devices, the Z10 and S4?", in which case, an appropriate response could be "I would rather use a Z10 then an S4".

Also, probably a good thing you added that footnote... Some would have taken you seriously.

Still incorrect. To convey the context you struggled to find there would need to be a comma, e.g., "I would rather use a Z10, then an S4".

EDIT: Also, I assume you did read the thread title...

It boggles the mind how often people misuse syntax. If it's a problem with ESL, I blame their teachers....syntax should be one of the first things taught in ESL.
If English is a persons' native language, and they don't make an effort to use their EFL properly, it irritates me to no end but I simply deduce that the offending English raper is a child and treat them as such.

I wish I could assume that all errors are made by people who aren't native English speakers - and thus be forgivable - but I'm pretty sure that isn't the case.

Excuse me. I am a teacher. Have any idea how uncooperative children can be? How much they don't give a **** because of their upbringing? Please don't be so quick to blame the teacher! We are pulled and pushed in all directions.

Actually in all honesty spellchecker/autocorrect probably plays a big role. Not saying it's totally to blame but rather that it contributes to or enables the laziness.
