When the Z10 first came out many Z10 buyers also bought a Playbook. When I went for my Z10 the stores were all cleared of their Playbooks. I wanted a 4G. I already had the WiFi version. My preference is to have a stand alone that I can use on the mobile network. Most of the tablets sold were on the basis that there would be an OS10 for it.

I finally managed to get a Playbook 4G on a special order. I was hoping for the OS10 and the updated Bridge software to come out. I heard there will be no OS10 and the Playbooks are being discontinued. I also recently heard some people posting that OS10 is coming. Did Blackberry management change their mind??? Or, is this a rumor???

I was even considering to buy another 4G Playbook if it would be available. But, now I will wait.

It was announced in the BlackBerry quarterly earnings report last week that they are no longer developing BB10 for the Playbook. They put a lot of effort into it, but the performance was not up to expectations, so there will be no BB10 for PlayBook.

They did not say that the PlayBooks are being discontinued. They said that they will continue to support them. That being said, PlayBooks are such a tiny part of their market that there doesn't seem to be much point in putting more of BlackBerry's scarce resources into them.
