So I went to work today, and was working with the assistant manager. I'm there for about an hour when he comes up to me and tells me that he got a call from the general manager (the one I have a problem with), and he was told to send me home because labor was too high (it was pretty slow, so not a big deal). But then he says that he has a feeling the GM might take me off the schedule altogether. But he said if that does happen, he will tell me how I can file for unemployment and make sure that I'll get it.

Well I just spoke with someone at the temp agency. Assuming my record isn't a problem (waiting to find out), they have a 3rd shift job I can start Sunday night.

I've been kind of a jerk on here lately, hating on certain threads and such. I want to apologize. A big part of my problem lately has been that I'm stressed out at work. I work part time for relatively low pay, and for someone in their 30's, that's not an ideal situation to begin with. And to make matters worse, my manager is one of the worst I have ever worked for. The situation with my manager came to a head this past weekend when he slapped my hand not once but twice, then got in my face and pointed his finger at me aggressively and would not let me walk away until he was finished talking and I said that I agreed with him. I reported him to his boss and I'm giving notice tomorrow that my last day will be next Saturday, the end of this pay period. I'm not trying to whine or complain, just letting you all know the situation and hope that you understand where my attitude has been coming from, and it's really not you guys. Someone will probably ask, so it's a pizza buffet, I make $8.15/hr, and I'm lucky to get 20 hours a week anymore. I bus tables and wash dishes by myself on the busiest days of the week, and this job is not worth putting up with the way I've been treated. I put an application in at a supermarket for 3rd shift stock position, and the girl who took my app says they will probably call me this morning some time. I really hope they do. It might not pay much more than I'm making now, but if it's more hours and a less stressful environment, then I can live with that. Anyway, thanks for listening. Sorry for being a @*#$ to everyone lately.

I too am humbled by your post. You have earned respect in this forum and me personally for that. I have never seen that before... done online!

I wish you all the best and do hope it improves for you as no one deserves the treatment that you have mentioned. Remember, its just the net, this is NOT real world, so do look after you in the REAL world, and do the best at that.

So this thread is a few years old, but funny story. The manager I had a problem with is now an assistant manager at a convenience store making about half what he did. He doesn't even get the title of manager or a managers uniform. His official title is store support and his uniform is indistinguishable from any other employee's. Seems he did indeed lose an argument with karma lol!

Not too bad, could be better could be worse. My wife and I split up in October, I started dating someone else in December and we just had twin boys on father's day. It's a little scary right now. I'm so close to finishing Barber school. Not working and I'm a little worried about rent but otherwise things are good. Only reason I'm not working is because we didn't expect the twins to be here yet. They were 11 weeks early so they're in the nicu and it's kinda stressful running back and forth every day to see them. They're only ten minutes away but we both wish they could be here. I was hoping to get a tuition reimbursement check that would have taken care of the rent but my financial aid officer at school told me the wrong info on when I would receive that check. So anyway other than a little worried about things like that I'm pretty good and coming back to bb10 pretty soon. Very excited for that.

keep your chin up. your two little bundle of joys will proud of you with your hard work and loving care. welcome back to the CBs. light will be at end of tunnel for the persistant and hard working chaps. Have you read the "outlier" book? There is "10,000 hour rule", pick something you are good at and love to do, spend some 10,000 hour and see where it leads you. IMHO. as for the GM, good to know the market judge him fairly, eventually. ;-). Best wishes to you and your family.

Things are starting to work out. I will have a tuition refund check coming in a few weeks that will pay august rent and part of September's. We are also able to get a little extra help with September's rent, and my tuition refund will also cover car repairs and my barber license application ($155, covers temp license, testing fee and first year of licensing, license is $110 a year after that). We are also getting a lot more in food stamps because of the babies being born. There is also assistance with getting pack and plays for free so the babies have somewhere to sleep when they come home from the hospital. All of the assistance stuff is only temporary until I finish school and get back on my own two feet. I have been putting over 50 hours a week in to try to finish school ASAP and I should graduate about the middle of next month. I feel very fortunate and blessed that things didn't fall apart. They easily could have. And I can't take credit I have to thank my higher power for all of this. I love my family and I'm working hard to be able to provide for their future
