just did my 8330, bought from gsm4world, fitment is very disappointing. i have a black housing and red trackball. gaps are pretty big or nonexistant, and i lost use of my headphone port somehow.
any ideas?
EDIT: also, these aftermarket trackballs are awful. mine is extremely rough, very annoying/hard to roll, while still feeling loose. you have to push to get it to roll. and its only left and right, but i have to push to get the cursor to move. up and down is fine. i may just swap it back out for the oem one :-(
ok so i read that it voids the warranty with Verizon... but what about Sprint? & what about with like insurance? Would I have to change the housing back to the original to do a claim?
That is a nice looking phone. I'm sure it would void your warranty and insurance because you are opening up the casing. I would recommend that you do not attempt this unless you know what you are doing or are no longer under warranty or have spare in case you mess up.
Just ordered mine from GSM4WORLD off of eBay. I am stoked to black-out my 8330!
Thanks for the tutorial, pics, and inspiration! (c;
EDIT: (9-15-09)
Got my "BB Murder Kit" and changed everything out. I am stoked about the all black BB.
The kit came with the following:
- All tools needed
- black rails
- black battery cover
- black bottom c-clip
- black front face
- black keyboard
- black trackball
- black trackball ring
- black skeleton/frame (i did not use this since it involves transferring speaker and other stuff)
It took me about 35 mins for whole thing. I love it!
