- We as a nation are always so quick to sue, cite the constitution etc. We are also so quick to complain about big brother watching and getting more and more control over our lives. How about we leave them out of it to begin with?

Also, I'm not talking about suing for money, I'm talking about getting an injunction in equity - no money involved.
Finally, I need to encourage litigation so I can have a job when I graduate
Posted from my CrackBerry at wapforums.crackberry.com11-13-10 09:53 AMLike 0 - Ah. Well, in this case, yes. How else would you go about fixing the problem? Talking to the school might fix it this time, but the problem will come up again. And realistically, as schools are a govt agency, you have to invlve the govt.

Posted from my CrackBerry at wapforums.crackberry.com11-13-10 09:59 AMLike 0 - An injunction to require allowing kids to display the American flag? I'm only a first year law student, but I don't see why that wouldn't work.
And no injunction will force cultural respect but it will prevent institutionalized disrespect towards American culture. Imo, as we are in America, we should at least respect our own country. I'm not 100% sure what issue regarding cultural disrespect you're refering to. Anyway, imo, if you're living in a country you should adopt the culture of that country rather than clinging to the cuture of the country you left.

I'm not nave enough to think we can make the students get along, but I am nave enough to think we can make the school set a good example.
Posted from my CrackBerry at wapforums.crackberry.com11-13-10 10:32 AMLike 0 - Why am I arguing with a lawyer. You really think a lawsuit is what will make the school set a good example. A lawsuit is NOT needed for that. A lawsuit will set the example for the kids, sue, sue, sue.
Posted from my CrackBerry at wapforums.crackberry.com11-13-10 10:35 AMLike 0 - Ouch, personal attack lol. I'm actually not an attorney, just a first year law student I can't even legally give legal advice.
What would you suggest as an alternative? If I could think of a better way to ensure that California schools don't continue discriminating against patriotism, I would support that over a lawsuit. Petitioning the Ca legislature is woefully unproductive, and the executive branch can't do anything. Unless I'm mistaken, that only leaves the judicial branch.
Again, talking to the school will solve this problem. But it's gonna come up again - this is the same thing as what happened on cinco de mayo for those who remember that fiasco. Without a governmental requirement, this kind of thing will continue to happen.

11-15-10 03:11 PMLike 0 - ok, ok....firstly, we as a country are too litigation happy. we sue, sue, sue for any and everything! judges and lawyers just need to say, "really? this is why you're choking up our system? case dismissed!" but i know that won't happen because it generates $$ for the governments on every level.
secondly, we are too politically correct! we're afraid to upset anyone for anything. we have gone from being proud americans to americans hiding and saying the pledge of allegiance in our closets! screw that!
this country was founded "in God we trust!" if you're applying for citizenship you should have to sign a waiver saying that they won't take offense to any of our beliefs nor we against theirs.11-15-10 04:15 PMLike 0 - amazinglygracelessRetired ModSay what you will but is this kind of thing that makes me proud Nice that they

HAHAHA, GO Texas
Also from that article: "Parraz says they have decided to focus on those students who are causing the problem, not the flag..." That's what they should have done in the first place.11-15-10 06:12 PMLike 0 -

- Well first off, the Bill of Rights applies to every citizen no matter their age, If you're a minor that doesn't make you any less a citizen,
As far as the illegal immigrants staying, it's simple, free money, free healthcare, all their kids are norn natural US Citizens, etc. Who would leave? Same thing with the citizens taking advantage of the welfare system.
As far as rights go, do you really think we still have those silly things? When was the last time you heard any kind of vulgarity on standard television, on the radio, on a cd, or anywhere but in person? When was the last time we could actually still carry our guns around no problem? Now days you go to jail and get it taken away, the right to KEEP and BEAR arms my a$$.
Innocent to proven guilty is BS as well. Especially if you plead the 5th, as soon as that happens, you're guilty. Just 'cause you don't want to drag someone else into your affars. Yeah, some country. Born and raised in the US, but I'll be damned if I ever say I'm proud to be an American, sorry if you don't like it, but I woke up.
And the military is nothing more than a political tool, they don't protect our rights, they do the corrupted bidding of the government. We only have as much freedom as the government is willing to give us. Land of the free? HA! Land of the free-est. If you don't believe me, why the **** are our troops still in places like Africa and Iraq?
Posted from my CrackBerry at wapforums.crackberry.com11-20-10 11:54 AMLike 0 - Everything I've said does apply to the post as it was turned into a debate about rights and the government and what the real problem is.

1) Change what you don't like.
2) Leave to a country you think will better suit your needs and wants.11-20-10 01:40 PMLike 0 - 1. You can't change corruption. The only way to change it is one person at a time in the government. Of course we could overthrow the government or completely boycott the military leaving the most powerful man in the world powerless.....both of those result in the US ceases to be a country. You can't honestly sit there and tell me the founding fathers would be proud of what the country has become, it is everything they set out to get rid of.
2. We are still the free-est country, not leaving it. I can still do the majority of the things I love in the US than any other country. That doesn't make it any less screwed up.
