...Do you know how big Tumblr is?
Not really; I know it's dominated by porn, so it's probably safe to assume it has a large following of junkies -- sorry; "subscribers." Not sure what the size of Tumblr has to do with the roll-back of Obama's 2015 regulatory grab; but whatever.

I think your point is that if sites like Tumblr are forced to raise prices because ISPs charge them more for access, they might go out of business -- whereas giants like WasteCrook just don't care.

Well, "boo-hoo" for Tumblr if they went belly up -- good riddance to bad rubbish, say I -- but let's waive discussion of the Tumblr's "value" to society at large and assume their business interests are as legitimate as anyone's.

For an ISP to raise access rates for Tumblr and not others is anti-competitive. Do you know which US government agency has authority to police such anti-competitive behavior..? The Federal _Trade_ Commission (the FTC).

Now, would you care to guess which US agency was in charge of such matters regarding the internet prior to 2015..? Yup -- the FTC. Guess which government agency successfully stopped AT&T and Verizon in the notorious "throttling" cases. A: The FTC.

The government agency once again in charge of such matters regarding the internet, now Obama's silly grab at government price controls has been rolled back..? The FTC.

As Tony Soprano would say, "Badda-bing."

Tumblr is a blogging site but I got some bad news for you, “bad things” are everywhere on the Internet and no one can stop it, that’s just how it is. See this is how they take control of everything they go “think of safety” but the problem is they simply want more money out of us they want to squeeze every drop they can and that is what they’re going to do bills are going to skyrocket for everyone. When you pay almost $100 a month for your Internet in Canada you can’t take much more, and unfortunately everything the US does affects the world. Americans think it’s only about them but there’s another whole world out there affected by every twitch and moan.

As for Tumblr going bankrupt, and people not caring, well people better care, people would care if Apple went bankrupt and people said the same thing about GM until they realized how many hundreds of thousands of American jobs are dependent on GM, parts suppliers, glassmakers, Electronics and just imagine if the same thing would happen with certain massive apps. You would have a crippled American economy. (Be HAPPY that so many Canadians buy your cars because that might not happen as much if his 30% tariff goes through for us) What you deem appropriate or not, and I am on Tumblr it’s mostly good stuff lots of political blogs (like mine)and simply do not follow the people that put certain things that you might not like, problem solved. Even Facebook and Twitter and Instagram will have the occasional post of what you deem inappropriate but this does not mean you KILL an entire ecosystem/app because someone is offended. This is why you can click the REPORT button or BLOCK them and 99% of the time they take care of it. Problem is the bigger picture every time you get in to censorship you’re losing some of your freedoms and they’re telling us how to live our lives and what to do and what to buy and what to eat and what to drink and soon you’ll be so restricted you may as well just sit at home and look at the wall. That’s not freedom buddy, that’s censorship and they want the money out of your pocket which is what’s going to happen, and this is how they go about it.

This is also how they’re going to Force all of us into self driving cars, they’re going to charge massive insurance premiums for our gasoline powered cars and say that safety is the major issue, just like they did with the muscle cars back in 1971 when insurance rates skyrocketed. Just to force us and make us by is the newest latest toy. “SAFETY” is always the way they do it.

I also remember when Bush stacked the deck in the FCC with those judges and soon in movies you weren’t even allowed to show a woman with her belly button it got so bad, the censorship. I got news for you that aint freedom. It’s just more “politically correct” right now. This is why Canada has a different movie rating system than the US, and Europe has a different one from Canada. This is also why most US movies are rated PG, so that everyone can take the family to see it and they make MORE MONEY otherwise no one goes to restricted movie anymore if it has an R rating. People have gotten so sensitive about this issue I find it laughable. A movie in Canada or Europe could be rated PG but in the US it will be restricted. So they allow control in different countries for what they deem appropriate. Thank Goodness! The problem here is when it comes to the apps and sites entire world likes to use this will affect the entire world and we will be paying more just because Trump wants to tax it for his business buddies OR SO THE GOVERNMENT CAN MAKE MORE money from it. It will take a couple of years for them to figure out how to figure out Targeted Billing for everything on the Internet data usage, apps you name it but we will be paying more. Don’t kid yourself.

Leave the Internet alone we pay enough, Obama knew what to do you don’t mess with it. Another problem is every country has different rules and guidelines for the Internet and this will make it all American rules and that will be a real mess for everyone. The cost alone with legality and costs to implement this will be staggering to the taxpayers!

Here in the USA, things were good before Obama "regulated" the Internet. Utility status guarantees profits for those companies and perpetuates a coziness between the Big Corp and Big Gov players.

When everybody complains about the high prices in Canada for certain things, part of it can be traced back to level of government involvement guaranteed profit to providers.

GM should have been allowed to go chapter 11 bankrupt. They would be in better shape like Ford now. When companies know they can't fail, their executives, like government make poor decisions and then allow bloat to creep in.

We didn't become the mightiest country on the planet without proper amount of deregulation.

And now under Trump things will be more restricted and you’ll have even less freedom. It’s not gonna get better.

As for GM having to go bankrupt I’ve covered this many many times. Why is it Americans only think short term they never think long term. Like I said hundreds of thousands of jobs were dependent on GM surviving and at least Obama understood this because the American economy and part of Canada would have been crippled that’s how big GM is! Look at how Americans screamed for the death of Pontiac and Oldsmobile and the problem is now that the economy recovered since Bush’s damage, there can never be a Pontiac Trans Am or an Olds 442 because once they’re gone they’re gone! How come no one thinks about long-term anymore??? Thank God Obama was educated and thought of this and he knew what a big hit it would’ve been to the US economy if they were allowed to kill all of GM.

No you got it backwards. Typical response “kill it off” and with it go all the jobs too! Obama, you have him to thank for saving your entire economy! And our economy as well because a lot of Canadian jobs are dependent on GM!

RJ, Obama may have had a law degree, but he was one of the most inept presidents our country has ever seen. He knew nothing about domestic economics or foreign policy; it will take many years to clean up the ObamaCare insurance mess, the rolling dumpster fires in Libya and Syria, and the breathtaking peril in Iran and North Korea.

I don't admire Donald Trump. I pretty much think he's a pig. About all I can say in his defense is he's not Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton. Obama may seem to be smooth and urbane to you -- most con men come across that way -- but here in the US, we've had to live with the steaming piles of dog poo he left behind.

I’ll tell you this, and I don’t care if you like it or but Obama was much safer for the world instead of firing someone every single day of the week.

As for peril in North Korea, Trump has provoked it to the point and escalation of near nuclear war, that was not Obama that was Trump.

Articles from where? Fox news? Gateway Pundant? I read articles too and they talk about individually charging money for certain apps and these charges will be on top of the Price we already pay for the Internet. If you think this isn’t going to cost people more money then you’re kidding yourself. What people wanted to kill off BlackBerry in the USA? We're competitive, but that's just business? If Canadian OEMs can beat USA OEMs that's what happens. We spent more as country on BlackBerry in BlackBerry heyday than most other countries.

As changes happen, we embrace that change and just attempt to profit from it as corporations do. We're about capitalism and free enterprise. We're anti-union because the American dream is being in charge of your own destiny and we don't want to owe someone. Our country just doesn't like social policies. Did you ever hear of lines of Americans sneaking across your border? No? We like it here. Effed up as it may be, we just like our freedom to do whatever it's that Americans want in our country.

If Canadians like their system, great!!!!! Why do I have to care what another country thinks about certain policies we have? When I go to other countries, I respect they are different and follow their culture. When living in other countries, I follow their laws and regulations.

As for your argument that the world was somehow "safer" during the Obama years, feel free to discuss the matter with the 100s of thousands of Syrian refugees, the Yazidis, the few survivors from towns overrun by ISIS, the citizens of the failed state known as Libya, or everyone who will have to deal with the Iranian and North Korean nuclear weapons programs. Were you thinking Kim Jong Un was just sitting around ordering movies from his Amazon Prime account while Obama was in office? No -- these missiles and warheads were all developed and built on Obama's watch.

Well at least you’re anti union, But as for Americans not coming across the border you are gravely gravely mistaken. Canada is getting mass migration right now from the US, and it was discovered that over 50 percent of them are criminals because Trump said he’s going to deport them. So now we’re getting the criminals and this is actually what Trump wants, a cheap way to get rid of them, scare them and they run to Canada. (I know, why should you care)

We also had to house your Vietnam draft dodgers, many of them stayed here they did not go back so I don’t know what you’re talking about. They were actually tens of thousands of them. When 911 happened, Canada opened up our homes when all the flights in North America were shut down, we housed you and people from ALL OVER THE WORLD. I will never forget actor Danny Devito thanking Canada on CBC evening news for that. You shouldn’t take it for granted that you have a friendly neighbour to the north, Despite the crap you hear on FOXNews. Actually if Americans knew how good we have things up here more people would come so I shouldn’t be saying this.

As for socialism well guess what you have aspects of socialism as well, it’s called paying taxes for Police services, fire department, military, and pension plans. So no one is entirely without some aspects of socialism and for your information Canada has socialist aspects also but too many Americans think we are communist and there is a major major difference between socialism and communism, just so you know, but unfortunately most Americans do not know they difference, they just call us Commies.

Now as for blackberry being killed off, when I joined here that’s all I saw were people screaming for the death of it or why keep it around it’s not making any money it should be killed off, and you still see many people saying that. After all didn’t you just say GM should’ve been killed off disregarding the state of the economy now that it has recovered and all the jobs lost?

Here is the story for you about all the migrants from the US crossing into Canada. I don’t blame you really it’s because you don’t get any news from other countries and you typically only watch your own media. Whereas up here we get all the major American networks so we know what’s going on.

We elected Trump because we don't want professional full time politicians. They're unproductive and don't really have a purpose within our economy.

I'm glad you believe in education just like Obama did. So much, his kids went to best private schools. Now before you go on about that, I send my kids to great private schools too. I spend more for them for the last 18 years and will for 6 more because I believe in Catholic schools and don't believe religion belongs in public schools. I spend more on education than where I live or what I drive, combined.....

I grew up in the carnival and fair business. Obama and Trump are both showmen. One pretends he's not and the other is proud of it and better at it. Obama was a professional liar in that, he'd never admit to being caught. Trump gets caught and then concedes mistakes until caught again.

If Clinton, Bush and Obama had done their jobs regarding terrorism and nuclear weapons, Iran and North Korea wouldn't be where they are now.

BTW, Trump's educated. Wharton is a top business school.

LOL I read an article that last year, that would’ve been when Obama was still president but Trump was coming in, the US only accepted 2500 refugees from Syria. 2500! Those would’ve been the good ones like the educated ones, doctors or Business people, the ones that would pay taxes. But I have major issues with what our prime minister is doing right now we took about 300,000 of them. But remember not all refugees are from Syria many are from northern Africa and other places. Places like Germany Sweden and England won’t be too happy when they have to fight with them for jobs, so I’m with you there. But I also think you been watching a lot of scary fox news because it’s a bit overblown considering how many you took in and your security checks are much better than Canada Under our current prime minister.

If you read what I wrote, I didn't write anything or complain about how many refugees the US took in. Obama's ineptitude resulted in an unprecedented humanitarian crisis, and the fact that Europe has born the brunt of it doesn't make it any less tragic.

That can be even more dangerous if they don’t know what they’re doing. His provoking of North Korea has entire world not liking the US right now, to put it mildly. Problem with Trump, he will not negotiate he will not make deals it’s his way or we’re going to NUKE YOU and that has the entire world concerned. There’s a bigger picture here than just the US it’s a global picture. You see, nobody wins in a nuke fight. Even one is all takes. In 2011 when the Japanese reactor blew, we got the radiation in Canada is far in land as Alberta it was in the cows milk, radioactive fallout off the land the grass the cows ate because the jetstream took it here. So Canada have to worry because if Kim Jong does shoot a nuke he’ll probably miss Los Angeles and hit Canada! All because of Trump and his big mouth.

As for trumps school and education I know that his universities are always getting sued by students. And the business as he starts get sued like that golf course condo set up in Scotland where people sunk their entire life savings into it and he didn’t even start building it yet. Do you know how Trump is smart, he won’t go into investments now unless there’s a lot of other investors he learned his lesson because he’s always being sued Bloomberg said it best, Trump is the greatest ConMan there ever was, and Bloomberg would know because they were both land developers in New York State and they often competed against each other..

No Trump is a disaster and it is very very scary for the rest of the world I’m sorry.

If you read what I wrote, I didn't write anything or complain about how many refugees the US took in. Obama's ineptitude resulted in an unprecedented humanitarian crisis, and the fact that Europe has born the brunt of it doesn't make it any less tragic.
Well Isis was officially the excuse for the refugee crisis, but personally I think many of them were economic migrants because I remember when they were safe in Hungary, they demanded To keep going to Germany where they could make €300 a month as opposed to only €50 a month in Hungary or other more poor Eastern European countries. They also refused to be fingerprinted in Hungary as far as I’m concerned they never should’ve been allowed to cross any further. You should see the YouTube videos for that, actual footage, pretty interesting stuff. But since Merkel said come on down, I think that was another big mistake and now they’re going to only allow, or try to allow 60,000 a year in Germany. The problem is many that arrived will now go underground so it’s too late. I also remember several times Obama wanted to do more bombing of Isis but the Senate wouldn’t allow him

In 2011 when the Japanese reactor blue, we got the radiation in Canada is far in land as Alberta it was in the cows milk, radioactive fallout off the land the grass the cows eight because the jetstream took it here.

It’s too late anyway don’t worry about it. I’m more to blame than anyone here so, if they want to delete those posts they can.

I agree about us and our preachy politicians staying out of your business. Of course, I would like the same to be true in both directions. Some high ranking American officials have said some fairly unwelcome things about Canada in the last year too.

Personally, I hope the free trade agreement dies a quick death so we can work to become more independent of US policy and the US economy. We have an unhealthy level of dependence on the U.S. that really limits Canada's choices (and makes us care too much about what you're doing down there). I also worry that American individualism is having too much of an impact on Canadian collectivism.

I'd much prefer to let you be you and us be us.

Actually, Facebook, The Goog, and Apple mostly sat on the sidelines during the quiet, secretive, pre-ruling Obama Administration discussions on this topic. It was the so-called "CEOs" of companies like -- seriously -- Tumblr Obama was listening to.
So I asked my cousin about this because he’s been reading a lot about this lately, anyway here’s what he said.
