Just cause it is happening doesn't mean it's better. Refer to removable batteries ... or virtual keyboards ...
I highly doubt the wires are limiting audio quality. At the frequencies that our ears can hear at, there's no way it is the wire. More likely the speakers in the headphones and their construction is the biggest factor. This is all about design and trying to coerce people into upgrading by providing something new (which they try to equate with better).

I for one would appreciate if people don't play loud videos in public places...
Of all the features that I would like improved on my phone, removing headphone jacks, shaving off an extra mm, a second speaker, etc are really low on my list.
How fantastic is that wireless headphone when you got a giant battery pack tethered to it? (Yup, saw it again the other day, I thought the fellow was trying to link 2 phablets together when I realized the other massive slab attached to his big iPhone was a battery which he proceeded to shove in his pocket with a long cable coming out to his phone).
    Ya sure whateva

I covered the removable battery point, so I shouldn't have to repeat myself. I am also glad you are a sound acoustic engineer and you know more than the professionals that build the devices.

Hint: If the cafe is already loud enough when you can't hear yourself talk, it's not going to matter if the phone speaker is louder!

Who knows. Not even sure what he was pro or con for.

Speaking of removable batteries, the other day I went camping. Brought along one of those heavy duty portable chargers, mostly for my wife's battery-draining iphone. I had my 9900. When I tried to recharge the 9900 with the portable charger, nothing happened. It ignored my 9900, yet charged the iphone later. Hmph! I just shrugged, removed my battery, and popped in a fresh spare one, and I was up to 100% within 2 mintues, or about 2-3 hours before the iphone was fully charged.

You're right, don't take my word for it. I only have an XX degree specialising in YY and worked N years specifically on YY related products. You know what I do!
No, go ahead and see what reviews are saying about those fancy Apple wireless earphones. Here's a few to get you started:‎

    https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2017...eless-earbuds/
    https://9to5mac.com/2016/12/19/hands...siri-and-more/

No prizes for guessing what they say about the audio quality....

Haven't used a BB since, oh, 2009 or so when I traded my Bold 9000 for an iPhone, but when my 6 (lol I'm poor lol) kicked the bucket a few weeks ago, I perused eBay and found a super reasonably price 9900 and snatched it up.

Suffice it to say, I joined the CB forums solely to be able to talk about my absolute *obsession* with this device. I know it gets said over and over, but that keyboard is--simply--unmatched in its perfection. [heart eyes]

Welcome Home! You'll find plenty of passionate enthusiasm around here. Especially for that exquisite keyboard! The handset's compact comfort makes that KB even better, imo. Once you've handled a 99, it risks becoming THE handset you'll likely compare others against. For most of us around here, there really is no comparison. Why else would such a collection of power users, so enthusiastically embrace this 6 year old device?‎

As you live with the thing, you might find it collaborating with non-virtual life in quite symbiotic ways. Ways you never suspect until needed only to discover those capabilities quietly waiting and ready. As if, someone, somewhere, had actually been down this path before. Lol. ‎

In fact, someone likely HAS encountered the need. Likely somewhere in the enterprise universe RIM dominated during Dakota's gestation. An invaluable source of feedback from pretty intense enterprise experience. Experience that Apple & Google never previously enjoyed. Experience RIM almost fully abandoned with their later "fresh start" platform. Imo. Reportedly resulting from a silly book Mike had read... lol. Go figure.

Your previous BB experience likely introduced you to other productivity enhancing features like swappable battery, ‎charging contacts,‎ convenience keys, toolbelt and TRACKPAD (!!! ), KB shortcuts, KB speed dials, etc, etc. ‎

‎If, like us, that addictive KB's enchanting smile continues charming words from your thumbs, eventually you'll run the battery down. That battery was sized for compactness. Larger ones can be easily fitted but I'd recommend considering getting a spare battery and spare battery charger to keep the spare battery charged so you can swap Batts and keep typing! Lol. ‎

‎One question, if I may. 9900 was referred to as "Dakota" before release. Did that, per chance, influence your user name choice? Just curious.

@kdakota, that's Steve, and he's having a bit of a break, not yet on holiday. He normally type all that single-handedly on his Bold.

Haha... that was over coffee break. 15 minutes for break but at least a couple minutes walking to & from breakroom added to that. Type rate suffers a bit while walking. Lol. Had to holster 99 a bit to use typing hand for pouring coffee. Never sat coffee mug down, tho. Priorities, ya know. Lol.

We still use unlocked 99s as data entry terminals for a particular service my company provides. Skills developed for that function have extrapolated into other uses for quite a few coworkers.

We continually test handset designs seeking SOMEthing more modern at least half as competent for typing & general editing as 99. Still seeking. Lol.

Our experience arguably doesn't apply directly to "average consumers". BUT, our "laboratory" has provided fascinating insight into the untapped potential hidden in these mobile communications devices. "Realtime" communications competency that, I believe, might one day find favor, once RE-discovered. Decades from now? In some other "work ethic" culture??

Publicizing my experiences, to limited extent, is done hoping others might enjoy re-discovering those skills before they're eternally lost. If any of that makes sense. Lol. Given the time individuals are investing in these communications platforms, it seems "no brainer" to learn to do it well. Imo.

Our 99s still represent the epitome of "typing while walking and sipping coffee" capability, at least. For anyone interested. Lol.

@idssteve I actually had no idea Dakota was my all-time favorite CrackBerry's working title! It, as well, is my middle name.

Tried for "K.D." as a username--my initials/go-to nickname--but it was unavailable, so I opted for "kdakota" instead.

Hysterical that I have that inherent connection to the 9900; thanks for bringing it to my attention!

Sidebar: I keep getting an "Exceeded spam threshold (3/3)" message every time I try to directly quote another member. Anyone know how to fix that?

If your account is a new one you'll get that a lot. I think they limit the amount and frequency you can post at first, just to make sure you're not a spammer or bot.
