My trusty 9900 is giving me a real problem and won't power on. Maybe this has been discussed somewhere before but when trying to turn on red light on for 10 seconds then goes dark. I've teed up a new one that's on the way but want to see if there are any known fixes in the group. Thanks for any possible help. Hoping to save my original and the content.
It's typical indication of the battery not holding a charge. Red led is on for 10 seconds or more then off.
How long have you been using that battery? If it's been used for 2 years continuously, then you may need to buy a new one.

Battery was the issue. Had 2 that were shot, think my mobile charger cooked them. Didn't use it on the one I had left and it was ok. Thanks for your help.

I have been reading through this thread a bit at a time for probably the last 6 months. Really enjoy the BBOS topics.

The other day my 9780 started acting up and so I decided to pop my sim card into the 9900 and give it a whirl. It was working great and I got everything set up on it but I just missed that darn 9780 too much. One thing I noticed though while going over the device was this screen that was talking about the Android open source project. Kind of got me thinking was BlackBerry planning on using Android back in 2010?

It did feel a bit weird carrying a Q10 and a 9900 but I'll be trying a different 9780 here soon.

My 9780 has that black stuff on the LCD which looks like some sort of black liquid leaking out. So it is in a moisture sealed box waiting for a screen replacement. I like the size of it and kind of miss those day where smaller phones were for business and big ones for tech junkies, or it was that way in my corner in South East Asia. But the 9900 has been great.
What kind of acting up your 9780 has been doing?

My 9780 was not getting emails which I thought was weird since I have 3 work emails on there and get over 50 a day on each. So I went to the email configuration screen and it told me that my BIS service had been deactivated or suspended which I thought was quite strange. Called TMobile and was speaking with a BlackBerry specialist. We couldn't figure out the problem, BIS was turned on from their end and we did everything but couldn't get it to work. That's when I switched to the 9900 and everything was working fine.

However my 9900 only has the Edge network since it's a TMobile 9900 but the wifi works great and BIS connected. I used it for a day and just forwarded everything to my Q10 for the time being. It just felt odd having a Q10 and a 9900 since they are so similar. Also the 9900 kept freezing and my keyboard needs replacing. I have an ATT 9900 but that keyboard is shot as well and I it looks like something is wrong with the screen. But it's not unlocked so I can't use it anyways.

Also crackberry won't let me upload a picture I took from the 9900 about the Android stuff. I believe it was under "Device Version" but not 100% sure at this time.

Too bad about your 9780 (and the 3G on the 9900) but to be honest after using a "twice as fast" 9900, and the fact I love the thinness of the 9900, I don't miss my 9780 too much. My white/and sometimes full gold chassis 9780 just never felt as solid as a 99. It would occasionally make some creaky sounds but overall it was pretty good. I had the dreaded double-typing issue on the 9780 but never on the 9900. The next OTA software update took care of that, even though many say it was a hardware issue, I found that wasn't my case.

The battery life was pretty amazing on the 9780 as I recall

That would be strange for a 9780. First time i've heard of this. Usually a service book re-registration would help. But if BlackBerry tech could not sort it out, it's time to enjoy the bigger Bold.
@ralph: Saw a gold 9780 listed on eBay.uk about more that a month back and instantly the name of you know whom popped out in my head

That gold spray paint was CHEAP!

BTW I had to install Tapatalk app for iOS because I couldn't upload pics on here or the imore forums anymore. Was getting more and more difficult.

They sure did a nice masking job before spray painting it... Lol...

Never used tapatalk... Can't help you there. Last photo I posted (yesterday?) Worked like usual thru the browser... Messy but doable... ??

I meant the iPhone, it doesn't work as good as The 9900 for posting pics. No choice really

Glad they work! I can see the pics in your Quoted section just fine.

Question about getting a new keyboard for the 9900. Are there any numbers I need to match up? I see there are a few on the back of the keyboard or is this just the part number?
