Why can't all cell phones of every make have the rubberized material on the back outer edges that the 9900 has!?

Probably because it would virtually eliminate the need for a cell case, or at least one of the "grippy" bumper/cases. This material (I am assuming it is also silicone on the back?) would be awesome to have just even on the outer edges of where you grip the device between the tips of your finger to your palm where it nestles tightly.

This is one of the things BlackBerry is/was really good at -- the back of the Q10 is absolutely brilliant as well. Almost impossible to scratch and very grippy.

    And it never wears away.

So it looks like the batteries went up in price by $10 and the hip holsters went down $10 (Since I bought them)

That's one of the very FIRST ones from August 2011. That month I got my white 9780 because I was too cheap to pay the extra $100 to get the brand new 9900. (But I did want a white BB at that time)

Then they made white 99's :/

Da....mn, what a boldaholic I am! lol. I tried , again, the q10 for a couple of days (actually one day. lol) and immediately took the sim out and back into my BB9900. What is it about this beauty that captivates moi? lol. I have also come to the realization, that, even though I cannot get LTE or sometimes even gsm here, that I can just set up my android phone as a hot spot and away I go.
I had purchased a while back the "white" conversion kit and in the next couple of days or so will convert one of my Bolds to an all white.

By the way, has anyone here installed the hybrid os's to their bold? I have on all of my Bold 9900's. There is a good section on how to in this 9900 section. Couple of years ago there was a lot of activity in the hybrid section and I lusted every day for the new hybrids to be announced. It was quite an exciting time. We had updates quite frequently. That got the juices flowing so to speak.

May I ask where did you get the white conversion kit and at what price? And does it look/feel good as a OEM?

+1000 for dual carry! Best tool for the given task is always at hand!

Some days of the week I'm compelled to suffer driving my F350 CrewCab LongBed Dually Diesel for hauling big things & crew. Navigating narrow city streets & parking it is NOT something I eagerly anticipate with much fondness. Necessary, at times, tho. But EVERY day of the week my hand eagerly anticipates the joy of my Porsche's steering wheel. A MUCH more enjoyable experience for narrow streets & crowded parking. Can't haul very large loads or crew but... Right tool for the given task.

Similarly, some days, I'm compelled to use my gargantuan D60. EVERY day of the week my hand eagerly anticipates the joy of my 99's exquisite form factor, superb feature set and maturely refined UI. A MUCH more enjoyable experience. Imo. Right tool for given tasks optimizes daily efficiency. No single tool can do EVERY thing optimalliy. 99 comes pretty close, tho. Imo.

Ah yes... hybrids! Recall seeing at least a couple familiar names over there, in the day. A couple coworkers still swear by theirs. Intriguing possibilities.

I got my conversion kit from Ebay. I don't remember the vendor or price but it was inexpensive.
Quality looks on par with the stock B9900 and it looks really good to me. I will know better when I get off my butt and install it.

I don't know why but my Q10 battery door was so badly scratched, it was the only part of the phone that was severely scratched and i never put it in my pocket with keys, when i bought a new battery door on eBay it made the phone Grade B+

lol. There's always someone with a different experience! I've had my Q10 for years and it doesn't have a single scratch on the back.

Hi, I've been using my white Bold 9900 here in New Zealand on Vodafone with BIS for 3 months now. I run it alongside an iPhone SE on a different network as coverage in NZ is not always that great. Anyway I have started to get onSearchError (106) in Spotify when I try to search for an artist, album or track. Otherwise the app works perfectly. I have uninstalled and then reinstalled it but Im still getting the same error message. I just wondered if anyone else is experiencing this and if there is a solution?

The soul of Blackberry is/was the BB9900. Lots ask me why I still stick to the 9900. If I had to tell them they would not understand anyway.
After I bought my first new Bold 9900 and used it (and still do of course) I also bought into the QNX (BB10 series). I bought the q10, Z10,Z30,Classic, Passport , P9983, P9982 and then also bought the Dtek 60 (which I immediately returned) and then the Priv. I also bought the Bold 9000, 9780, 8320, BB9810, B9670 prior to the 9900 and still have those BB phones. I put a lot of time into those other blackberry devices and kept coming back to the soul of Blackberry-9900!. Somethings just plain work el perfecto! I guess I will continue, as others in this thread do, to boldly go forwards. Sometimes I like to ramble nonsensically at times. Oh well. lol

Thanks mate. I've been looking at a few kits on eBay but am not sure about them. There are some electronic parts on the sides of the mid frame which look like flex parts. One one kit they are in green and orange, on another kit they are green only, or orange only. That got me really confused.

Well, gents, I finally retired the 9900. I just wasn't using it as my Passport has taken over my interest, and I retired my business line. I got tired of two phones and two lines. No need to look like Ari Gold with two Blackberries as I travel.

So I have a great condition 9900 with a TON of accessories. eBay here I come!

Great Idea, as those here would most likely get the "most" out of the phone and accessories. I even have two extra batteries and a remote charger, about 10 cases, charging stands, a battery charger case, and the list goes on. I also have a mint condition Playbook and charging stands and cases and keyboard. I may be listing the entire package all or nothing. Somebody is going to get a great deal. But it's better than the stuff just sitting in my closet collecting dust.

Cool seeing some new "faces" in here....

For those of you that are dual carrying (and in many different countries it appears) I'd love to know if you swap the same sim, or 2 lines, also any issues or comments associated with this practice.....

I use two SIMs. The inconvenience bit is I don't sync through any mail service so any new contact have to be manually entered on both phones.
