Well, that was quick. SIM card in, swapped devices, FB and twitter up, gmail synced with all contacts. All ready to go.

AP is very good but don't expect the GPS to work for finding location, but still excellent.

If you need an excellent Flashlight app this one is the absolute best, one touch cancellation and there is no app to close later from the open running apps. Called "one touch flashlight free" and also if you are like me and find the screen too bright in a dim-lit room, and even after you have set your default screen brightness to 10% like mine is permanently on, the Screen Dim app to the right of the flashlight app is amazing. It gives you full control and you can go much lower than the factory settings. I was getting headaches from the LCD.

There is also "Client for Instagram" and many of the photo editor apps still work great. 9900:Resurgence of popularity!-img_1480565296.072240.jpg

Nice. Man that Passport is massive it just dwarfs everything into oblivion.

And I see 9900s in those photos so I would never call that off topic. Off topic is when I mentioned iPhones earlier, but the common bond we have is still the 9900 so I wouldn't sweat it too much. ;-)

I think I've had it with smartphones. I'm not buying anymore new ones. I'll just stick with the ones I have or inherit from my wife as she updates. Phone companies nowaday want to seduce buyers with more and more specs, but I'm not going to fall for it anymore.

Who really needs a snapdragon835 unless you're really into games? Fingerprint scanners... really? Who cares if it's on the back or front? Or there at all. I turned off that useless option on my iPad because it slowed me down. Plus, it is a terrible security option, if one really thinks about it. Oled or lcd screen, who cares? If I can't even read it outside on modest setting, it's junk and I'll just stay with my 9930 or passport which are completely visible in direct sunlight even on lowest setting!!

Plus new phones are so fragile. They break too easily. I have old slider phones which could bounce on the floor all day long and work fine.

Batteries today? What a joke. The public's desire for higher specs and more graphics is a major reason why smartphones have awful battery life and must use glass backs to facilitate wireless charging. This only makes them more fragile.

I might look at the mercury, but something tells me ill still be using my passport this time next year.

The Guide is definitive. Reality is frequently inaccurate.
I suspect that a lot of people around here share some or all of those sentiments. As for inheriting your wife's tech, that's the modus operandi around here. I run Linux, so by the time my wife's done with a laptop, there are open source drivers for it and installation is easy.

It seems to me that the reason people are forced to update usually has to do with communication. Companies keep creating new apps that open new communications channels, and if you want to remain in communication with certain groups of people, you need to buy the hardware / software.

BlackBerry was the worst early offender, when it provided almost instant email delivery and created BBM. But over the years, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, iMessage, Whatsapp and a host of other messaging, communications and social media apps are the reasons that many people change phones.

Fortunately for me, SMS and regular calling still serve my purposes, so anything that still connects, from a flip phone on up will work for me. I can't imagine a lot of my friends or family members living with those limitations.

I'll stick with my keyboard phones until the last carrier cuts them off. The 3G models probably only have a few more years. The LTE models should last a little longer.

Yeah, the first thing came to my mind, looking at this pic, was the poster tried to take photos of image on mirror (selfie? :-), but the infamous 9900 auto focus was not quite up to the task for closeup photo, let alone having a difficulty to focus on false depth in mirror :-)
