I found it absolutely 99% almost impossible to type quickly and accurately on my iPhone 5c. I am getting used to it and I'm getting better but AutoCorrect is saving me over 50% of the time I would say.

That 9981, what are the specs compared to the 9900 because a lot of people seem to be comparing it to the 9900, is it the same processor camera etc.?

Also, the keyboard on my Q10 was acting really weird, i looked up how to take apart the Q10, i can tell you that it's easier to take apart the 9981 than it is to take apart the Q10, i dont even know how people can do that lol, i think i'll just have to sell it as faulty.

The keyboard is about the last thing you remove when disassembling the Q10. It's an odd design, given the maintenance-friendly construction of the 9900 and other older models.

I finally swapped the keyboard on my 9900 which was double typing on the space bar only.
Got the cheapy one from Bislinks.

Can't tell the difference from the keyboard originally in the 9900, but to be fair, I bought it used. Even the part number and serial number markings look identical.
The swap was amazingly easy, even for first timer, took maybe 5 min including reading instructions online. It worked perfectly. The sym key might not be as perky and the toolbelt buttons feel a bit more rattly, but overall it feels same or better than what was on before. No more double typing.
I love how easily serviceable this thing is! I hope to keep this running for a long time, but need to stock up on spare parts.

One side note: While waiting for the parts to come in, I was running my Q10. I love this phone! The only reasons it doesn't win over the 9900 that easily is the lack of the toolbelt and trackpad. The battery life is insane compared to the 9900. In fact, while the 9900 was in the drawer and off for a week, the battery completely drained. Unheard of on my BB10 devices

Yup it's easy to plug in the KB and swap it as a whole unit, but once you separate the KB into halves and mess with the membrane that becomes a different story for some of us

If your Bislinks KB works then I better have no probs with the BB brand one I should be getting anyday now. I saw the Bislinks ones and they were around $5. If that works then count your blessings lol.

I saw the white official Blackberry OEM full chassis for $55 Cdn from England on EBay or Amazon, can't remember which.

The gold chassis on my 9780 kept pretty good,the battery cover chipped a little

The keyboard is attached to the screen so you have to take everything apart to detach the keyboard from the screen, and while you're at it you can easily just add a gold bezel and re-house the phone because at that point the entire phone will be disassembled just to change the keyboard. The P9981 is actually manufactured the same was as the 9000, i was shocked when i saw it being disassembled. I'm just so glad the keyboard is the first thing you can change on the 9900.

I replaced the screen, keyboard, and bezel on mine (I used the silver bezel from the white version), and those two little phillips screws that hold the keyboard and screen together were very difficult to remove. A few people have stripped the heads and have not been able to get them out at all.

Considering the massive population in China, carriers likely ordered millions of these things and now they are desperate to clear the warehouses.

Ya it works amazing! BUT I noticed sometimes using the screen to scroll would not work while the screen dim app was turned on, but no worries, that's what the trackpad is for also.

I believe the name is "Screen Dimm" app with 2 "m's" and the cost was 99 cents.

Hong Kong was and still is a distinct market separate from China. For mainline China, I seem to recall that BlackBerry was only a business phone. At the end of 2011, BlackBerry had 0.1 % of the China market.

So yes, Hong Kong and Indonesia were the strong markets for BBOS devices.

Yup, the Bislink ones are super cheap. But how does one tell if this is a Blackberry KB or some other copy? I can't imagine the market for replacement keyboards is big enough for someone to setup tooling to make these, other than the original manufacturer.
As I said, looks just like the one on my phone originally. On Amazon (US) it says this is a Blackberry OEM part. The package I got came from UK, not China

There are some codes and numbers like "Rev 4" on the originals if you flip over the keyboard. This is why am thinking I did not have originals when they tried to replace mine because I looked at the numbers and they were just completely different, less numbers than the original.

I think basically the Chinese ones are made with inexact tooling and inferior quality plastic, but many people don't mind them and they work OK for many. All I can say is I know the plastic on my 9780 Chinese chassis gold is not as rigid as the original. So many people probably had to buy keyboards over the years they likely made their money back for how little it cost them to make them.
