OK with me reading through 150 replies. How do I get the 9900 to work on consumer cellular?

I tried opera mini don't work
Opera mini didn't work? Is your APN set for Consumer Cellular? Are you set to use both 2G&3G? That could be important. See this page: http://www.prepaidphonenews.com/2015/03/consumer-cellular-now-offers-service-on.html. It's possible you have the wrong SIM for your phone, because Consumer apparently uses both T-Mo and AT&T-based SIMs. The article tells you how to determine which network your SIM is using.

Day 2 with the Bold. Haven't had much chance to play with it, but late last night I managed to install some apps I wanted, and figure out the whole notification thing on Facebook. First, goal.com is an excellent app for soccer scores, haven't had a problem so far, downloaded dropbox, works great but haven't found a way to download pictures from the app (am I missing something, or?), like Ralph said, I need to go online for the messages to come without going to the app. No problem with that, although since FB app doesn't work with regular data plan, I'll just use FB Messenger when I'm not connected to Wi-Fi. I mostly need FB for messages. I can live without the rest, and if need comes by, I'll just use the browser. Overall not many problems with the phone. I only wish 3G data speeds where a little bit faster on the browser. With Wi-Fi though it's pretty good.

Cool. I never used Dropbox before but how as your email set up been? If you have Gmail you will probably have to go into desktop settings in gmail and "allow less secure devices" like I had to after trying everything else for many attempts. Then RElogging into Gmail.

2 things I am grateful for is BIS and H+ speeds from Rogers, but even my 9780 pulls through on 3G with a little patience and the typing experiencs makes it more forgiving.

I tried used an MVNO years ago with a 9780. Without BIS, my experience was lack luster. Yes, you can use Opera Mini (it should be easy to set up, not sure why yours is not working but look at the threads on CB that address Opera Mini and the APN of your carrier) and you can use LogicMail instead of the native BIS mail manager, but IMO, you are far better off going with a carrier that has BIS. Simple Mobile still offers free BIS with their plans, and I'd consider using them if you have a Berry that can do GSM and/or T-Mobile (the master carrier for Simple Mobile). Personally, I finally went back to ATT for my 9900 on the business line since I needed superior coverage and great customer service. YMMV of course.

Well I'm just using the browser shortcut. Can't setup logicmail and gmail says unexpected server response on setup. Is there any alternative? I also clicked allow less secure devices.

That's a gorgeous photo. I always wanted the 9900 in white. I have it in black. All of my phones are black except for the Berry Q5 that I ordered in white, and it looks great for an entry level BB10, especially with an Amzer black case.

I've been trying really hard to just stick with the G. I have all the apps I could ever want and it's been a great phone overall...but it may not be enough.

Thinking about giving my Q10 another go. The keyboard isn't quite as good as the 99XX and no trackpad, but it has the email and calendar support I need and more apps than the Bold, especially if I take advantage of the Android runtime.

    I'm hopeless, haha.
You'll be back for another visit, sooner or later!
The call of the 9900 keyboard is just too great to be ignored by a mobile technology tourist such as yourself ... Once it's in your blood, there's just no cure!

    Hello everyone!

Just listened to the Q1 earnings call and it sounds like the BlackBerry "SAF" or service access fee's declined in the quarter higher than expected. These's are fee's that were being paid by corporations and carriers for using BBOS devices, these fee's went away with BB10.

We need more 9900's to go back online to assist with the help of the company!

All jokes asides so far I am loving my time with my 9900 so far although I may not be able to keep it as a full time device. I miss having the speed of the browser and some of the more modern apps on my Classic, screen size etc.

For a messaging performance, keyboard etc the 9900 is fantastic so I might just keep it on a 2nd line.

A bit off topic regarding the design of Blackberry phones. I am reading the book "Losing the Signal" The rise and fall of BlackBerry. Anyhow so in the book they discussed how some of the first designs of the original BlackBerry phones was disgusting, the designers from OUTSIDE the company did an awful job so BlackBerry made a choice to have best in class designers for the phones going forward IN HOUSE. I still think the 9000, 9900 and Classic devices are just downright gorgeous phones. Just sleek, sexy and amazing functionality as well.

Yup. I always like lighter colours, like my white 9780 and I woud not say "no" to a white 9900 BUT I think the 9900 looks very professional in black.

It's a stunning phone in Black to be sure. I wish I'd bought my Z30 in White, but Black was quite a bit less expensive so I went with Black.

My Q5 in White with a Black case looks good, and it happens to match my classic Kindle in Whie with Black case.

Nice. I was even thinking about putting a white keyboard on my black 9900. I'm having a minor issue with my "h" key so if it gets worse it is dirt cheap to get a new keyboard

That's a great idea. If you do that, please start a thread and post pics. I may do that next year when my 9900 keyboard starts to show wear. I usually get 2 years out of a Berry Keyboard before it really starts to show signs of heavy use.

I actually get complements on planes with that Q5 and classic Kindle combo. The Black and White contrast is attention-getting. No one usually says anything about my 9900, but I don't care. The 9900 is like black gold to me on my business line.

Nope, but I have heard of a certain Purple Dinosaur

So I ran into a friend that I have not seen since the late 1980's, I couldn't believe it, but more so what I couldn't believe is what type of phone he uses......what is this model......
