Well guys, I've tried everything with my trusty 9900! I have gotten the phone to turn on but that's it...screen is black/blank with nothing showing? I'm all out of ideas here.

The sad part is the 9900 feels great in my hand! It brings back so many memories and why I came to BlackBerry in the first place.

Now that I can't use my 9900, I'm more curious than ever to have one again? I think the size and build quality would be perfect for my needs?! The few apps can always be filled by my iPad mini with LTE if need be.

I'm trying to decide if I should just move on or buy a new 9900 from Amazon or eBay? If the latter, which model is the best to get? I'm on AT&T. Thanks

Well that took about 10 minutes lol. I decided that I miss and love my 9900 too much to not have one in my life! I just ordered a used model off of Amazon and it'll be here later this week.

My current 9900 that has been with me thru it all will now be sent to the parts bin. Which is not a bad idea since every single part is virtually new.

This is as far as my 9900 gets now?

It's these little details that make the Bold 9900/9930 so appealing to me.

Got my brand new 9900! It's locked to T-Mobile. I bought an unlock code from cellunlocker.net (gave me a MEP2 and MEP4 code) but it isn't working. I started off using method 1 (https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-15284) which just kept reducing my number of tries. Then I tried method 2 which gave me "code error". I've stopped and contacted cellunlocker. I've got 3 or 4 tries left. Scary!

The seal on the box was cut, but everything inside looks new. Who knows really.

    Hey you dinosaur!
First, thanks for the great thread!
I'm on Petrocan mobility (love the pay for what you use model!), which uses Rogers network, but no BIS on my 9320. Sound right?
I'm looking for a 9900, but Kingston is a much smaller market repair-shop-wise, so I think I'm stuck with online availability. I'm not seeing any canadian sellers that give me a warm fuzzy feeling..... any suggestions? I've used factorydirect in the past, but with mixed results.
hmm IDK the only prepaid (if thats what you mean by "pay for what you use") I was ever on was Virgin mobile Pre-2010 with Motorola RAZR's and Rogers with Nokia C3. With Blackberry I went full 3 year contract in 2011 with the 9780.

Enjoying reading and following this thread! I've recently been taking out my old Blackberry's and feeling the nostalgia as well. Definitely feel like the Bold 9930 keyboard was the best of BlackBerry. Question for everyone though.

I'd like to start using the 9930 again as a secondary phone, but here's the catch. I don't want to activate it on my line since I have the Classic activated and I'm on Verizon. I'd just like to use the 9930 on WiFi / hotspot. Is that possible, or would I need BIS? I believe it's possible to do this with Blackberry 10 devices, and you can still get email/bbm, etc. Let me know.

Good question! I know that there are wifi calling apps for ios, but both people have to have the app installed. I even tried one on my iphone just for curiousity sake, but the name escapes me now.

    anyone?

I am in the US. I am likely to use Verizon. Good to know that is was straightforward. If you have a chance I'd love to hear more about the mail setup issues you may have had. Feel free to BBM me 7BDA3D3C.

Thanks in advance for all your help.

No I bought a new/used Att model. 9.5 out of 10 for $60. I only picked them because they were out of California lol.

    You guys are killing me!

I miss and love my 9900! So the new plan is to swap my current sim into the 9900 and use my iPhone 6s Plus as my tablet. So we'll see how it works out!!

Nice thread, I like it :-) I'm still very happy with my Bold 9900, too. Started using the media player for music (MP3 player, really), works great. Found a nice little app for streaming radio along the way..
I'm very much into the app switcher (hold menu button), the functionality is amazing. Also, I still customize my home screen icons regularly, depending on my needs at the time. Wouldn't want any other phone ;-)

I dont know about calling apps, but I get my email on my Bold as well as my simcard phone and up to five devices with IMAP using Startmail. On wifi just make sure your 'network' button is turned on, down where you can select 2g 3g or both, my music streaming works great through the Bold. You cant use the same BBM pin on two phones, so I'm not sure how that will work unless you pick your Bold for all your BBM use.

If it weren't for the Q10, I'd ptobably still be using my 9900 as my phone-phone too!

That's the same thing I've been trying to figure out. From my understanding, you'd have very limited functionality without a data plan. Ex: No email, no BBM, etc. There are workarounds but they're not ideal.

+1000 for keyboard shortcuts! Anyone thinking PKB is just for typing is missing half the experience! Also love keyboard Speed Dials. My most called # is programmed to"P". Really easy to find & press by feel.

Advanced OS & Led would've made a great set of functions to build into the OS itself. At least the great app works on our 99's!

So your LTE SIM card was still good to reactivate when you were ready to switch back from your Bold?
Yes, no problem. Done it twice now, same SIM.
