I read this thread today and it made me miss my legacy devices. I looked on swappa and was able to buy a new in the box 9930 for just $25. I will have to toy around with it.

It isn't unlocked unfortunately but I can circumvent that. I don't know what the date is. It gets shipped to me tomorrow. I just figured for $25 for a brand new 9930 I couldn't pass it up.

even if you have to pay some place like $30 to unlock it, wow. Pics would be appreciated when you get it

I remember in 2011 that most of the tech sites that reviewed new devices all said that 0S7 was too much like OS6, and that was true BUT I would rather have "tried and true" based on an existing platform than something completely new filled with potential bugs and glitches. Ok that was the longest sentence I ever wrote.

I don't have a 9900 but have been using my 9810 for over 3 and a half years now. Prior to that I had a 9300. Bridged to my PlayBook they make a great combination. BIS in the UK is still going strong, but not sure how it is fairing in other parts of the world.
a couple years ago a buddy of mine was all stoked because he was given a mint 9300 (I think) that was purple and barely used but when he wanted help with it to set it up, he called me over and when we went to put the SIM card in, it DIDNT have a SIM slot! I still would like to know how anyone could have used that thing, I'm thinking it might have been an 8520 but it had the curvy styling of a 9300.

I'm just new to BB's since 2011 and if someone can explain how it worked without a sim card please do.

EDIT: it must have been an 8520, I just found this about no sim card slots....

Reminds me of the friendly & helpful CrackBerry I joined in 2008! Tone changed just before the Z10 release, IMO. Several of my coworkers were once regular CB contributors, before they got flamed into the shadows for favoring "old fashioned" ToolBelts. I'm currently the only one out of 26 in my office who will risk posting on CB. Many of my posts include their breakroom suggestions, tho. Lol. Might coax them back into a civil corner of CB ??

hey if anyone wants to do a BBM thing are we allowed to put our pin in here?

Might be cool to get some fresh ones, if anything just for the numbers

    She's a beauty! Enjoy!

I know nothing compares to the 9900/9930, but I wouldn't mind getting my hands on the last BBOS 7 device ever released: the 9720.

I sold one of those, it was my Mother's device and it was pretty good. That colour looks really nice.

Why am I now thinking about collecting BlackBerry phones.

I'm absolutely LOVING being back on a pkb

I must admit that the supportive, practical nature of this forum was a contributory factor in my return from the Q10. Principally driven back by a need for speed & efficiency in handling text, emails etc. that the Q10 couldn't deliver in my hands (I'm much faster and more accurate using a trackpad and OS7 menu driven system) knowing that there was also a strong community support network for the 9900 proved an additional reassuring benefit. There are some very nice, helpful people on the BB10 pages (Newfangled was a regular on the Q10 threads), but without doubt there was (and is) far more whining on BB10 forums than on this 9930/9900 forum

I got it from eBay for 30. The seller honestly said it needed a battery, so I'll have to get one of those too.

I'm putting the 9320 in the "backup drawer" and giving my Sony Xperia to a family member

I'll let this thread know how it looks and what I think of it when I get the phone next week.

No Idea, I guess an American can answer that one. I hear some saying that certain US carriers charge an extra fee in some cases, but if it applies IDK. We pay so much in Canada for our plans that they just include it basically.

No. That was an unsubstantiated rumor. I checked with customer support this week and they still support BIS with no current plans to end support.
