Well, I installed the app, and I bought one issue of Cycle World that I looked at once, and I haven't opened the app since ... so I can't say I'm not using it. I'm afraid this is one use for which a 7" tab isn't very well suited. Not for me and my crappy eyesight, anyway. And I'm not very happy with the UI ... doesn't feel polished. Kinda disappointed in it tbh, especially since this was the app I was most anticipating.
Picked up the Maxim, 2 yr subscription for 24.00!
A double tap on the screen will zoom in, another one will zoom out. Zooming works great for me but I don't have any issues with my eyesight. I have looked at my 5 magazines and have read more than a few articles so far. I think i can get use to it.

I have (care of the free package)
1. PS Official Magazine
2. Macworld
3. T3
4. FHM Philippines
Thanks, but tried that ... the left-most edge of the page goes off-screen. Sometimes after a few swipes it comes back, but then the rest of the page is off-screen. And reading in landscape mode is quirky at best ... sometimes swipe gestures work, sometimes they don't.
When the app works as conveniently as picking up a magazine, maybe I'll give it another shot. But right now it's a pain in the arse to use; the text is too small, zooming and scrolling is jerky and inconsistent, and I just plain don't like it. The UI to me is garbage and doesn't conform to any PB 'standard', if there is such a thing. Considering the quality of other apps, I find this one to be an absolutely crappy port and basically a huge disappointment.
And people honestly believe tablets and phones are going to replace desktop computers? HA.
I have and already got a few subscriptions going. Used the $25 credit but haven't seen the $5 I keep hearing about. I'm hoping for an interface improvement soon and an expanded selection of magazines, I don't really need 5 different Mac-oriented publications. I'm hoping for Cigar Aficionado and a good home construction journal. Overall I'm quite happy with it.
Love it downloaded many many mags! So easy while on the go i like it.
It does zoom to the center. I would rather it zoomed to where you press. For example, if a page is broke up into five boxes it would be nice to tap one and have it zoom there.
As far as the left age being cut off, flick the page to the right rather then drag it. That seems to work the first time, rather then trying to drag it over and over again to get the edge out.
I like the app. It's not perfect. Another spot that needs work is in the shop. If you do a search you get a list and can look at them but when you done you can't back out of that search. You need to hit read, then hit shop again. It switched fast for me but I should be able to go back there.

I just picked up two more.
Boating
Chrono

Did i miss something? Is zinio limited to north america and europe? cus it doesn't work for me. when i sign in, all i get is read highlighted... i cant click the store icon, and on their website i got a free subscription to a magazine, yet i cant see it inside of the app. any advice? as for the25$ credit.... i filled out the form but i didnt get it.
Did you try restarting the app and/or the PlayBook to see if that would work?
James
The days of the magazine have passed in my my opinion. There are countless blogs online where you can read a review or editorial.
I like Zinio, all things considered. I've got Esquire, PC Magazine, and Car and Driver, and I'll likely pick up another one or two with that $25 credit.
Agreed, most magazines aren't best viewed on a 7" screen, but I can accept the app as it is.
I agree with many here that this is a POC app. This is based on my attempt at dl'ing the free mag Esquire and trying to read it. However, since they have my email address now I figured I try out by buying some issues of my favorite mags.
Although I already received an email from zinio, it was just an ad. Do we have to do to get this $25 credit or does it get sent automatically on siging up? I signed up last Thursday.
I disagree. I like magizines much better. Print mags could be going out but I don't see digital ones going anywhere soon.

I had an email sent to me asking if I got my $25. I had to fill out my email address and click the button saying no I didn't get the credit. I had one in my email the next day.

Have I missed something? What promo code
Not"many", just a few people seem to have a negative opinion. Most really like it, and are buying multiple subscriptions. Zinio support has been very responsive and have already addressed many issues that were unique to the PB or RIM policies.
But some people want everything free, instantly, and everything perfect to their individual expectations. Not gonna happen. Pay for the apps. Buy the subscriptions. Zinio is free because it is a portal to the mags, where they are able to monetize. And the app is very good, and will continue to develop, based on what I see from the Zinio developers and support crew. So buy and enjoy the mags.
Check your spam file if using Gmaill and add the Zinio support email to your contacts so you get future mail in your. Inbox. Also check the forum threads for the link to $25 credit.
Got my Car And Driver & Motor Trend. I'm one happy camper :D
I wanted to get Popular Science magazine which is no longer available on Kindle for Android (or Playbook) just a few days ago.
So Zinio would be a good replacement but I am still waiting for my $25
I'm still waiting on my $25. I'll probably only use it for that subscription but you never know. Depends on my experience.
I thought I'd give it a try just to see what's what. Maybe I'm missing something, but is the online account not linked to the app? I got the $5 credit email, followed the directions therein to go to to the site and pick out a title, only to find that while it shows up in My Library in the browser interface, it doesn't in the PB app. Are we being hustled with another slapdash Android port here?
I just spent my $25 this morning, haven't gone home and powered up the PB yet to read them. I did get a sample issue of a magazine, and the interface clearly needs improvement but is not too bad. I hope they will update the app.
I still get two magazines in paper, and neither one is available through Zinio - both are available through Kindle but don't get good reviews there so I think I'll still get paper. So I looked for stuff that I thought might be interesting. I'm a geek so I got:
American Scholar (Phi Beta Kappa Society quarterly, always wanted to read this)
World Literature Today
Geist, a quirky-looking Canadian culture review that was on sale for super cheap.
What I was wishing for and didn't see:
Historic Preservation
This Old House
