Just a note of caution to everyone. Be careful if you are going to download "mature" content and I'm not talking porn here although that certainly would apply. If you try to download a title that is considered mature (serously, give me a break) you can't view it on the Playbook given the following rules:

After 10 minutes on the phone with Zinio, this was the answer that they provided. Dont get me started about what they said when I told them that it's not an Android tablet; it's a Playbook.

Mine was the complete opposite though. All my automotive and tech magazine were not available on my playbook. the only magazines that are available on my playbook are the few "mature" magazine that i bought. -_-

Yeah it synced the latest edition of National Geographic, but not the 2 editions before it.. Didn't sync cosmo or Reader's Digest either

I've put a formal written help request in and will see if anything happens from that. Oh well; I'll be much more cautious in purchasing something in the future as, for me at least, I want my magazines portable. And somewhat annoyed that this one is not.

totally baffled me. same here, i sent in a formal written help request. Since all the magazines i have is shown as being compatible on RIM's devices, and adobe AIR (which the playbook app is probably built with), i expect them to show up on my device. i want my magazines to be portable too, and this is rather annoying. I hardly ever read the few "mature" magazine i have, I mainly need my automotive and tech mags. Which makes the zinio app almost pointless since i only have "mature" mags on my playbook now and nothing else. sigh.

One thing I am happy about is that they have the international stores in this app. The Website version doesn't and it really annoyed me. It's a bit late, but very happy to finally see it on the platform.

Is this new Zinio app built w/ Adobe Air?? So if it is and I buy magazine online....should my PB app of Zinio pull it up even though the PB app doesn't have the magazine lsited??? Can anyone confrim that?

Still not working for me. My "Evo", "Top Gear" and "PC Mag" past issues still not showing up. Just bought an Evo issue to test, and still not showing up. My old PC Mag issues not showing up either, even though they are listed in the store on the playbook. Baffling. I use the browser to go to zinio.com to view my library and all my issues. No problem reading it too. It just loads painfully slow. But its not appearing in the app??? sigh.

I correct what i said earlier, apparently the zinio playbook app was built using webworks.

there are free magazines in their store, depending on your residing country.

Found this in their FAQ. Same thing for Android. No FAQ for PlayBook yet, but i assume it will be the same. It might be quite sometime before i can see my past issues i suppose. Since the app is now officially out, i can confirm that most of the latest issues of all magazines will be available on the PlayBook meaning issues from march 2012 onwards will all be there. most of the latest issues listed on the website is available on the playbook as well. i just purchased the latest version of Evo for april 2012 on their website and it showed up on my playbook. Back issues not showing up, and might take some time. But according to them in that statement above, eventually it will all be made available.

I have 3 months of magazine with zinio that i can't access right now on my playbook. When i bought the PlayBook then, i stopped purchasing physical copies and replaced them with digital copies on zinio instead. I haven't read any of them because Zinio app for playbook always seemed to be around the corner. I still refuse to read it on my desktop, and will thus wait till back issues are available. That is my only gripe right now. If i had known back issues might not be available, i would have continued with purchasing physical copies while waiting for the app. But well, life is full of "if i had knowns". Can't blame Zinio at this point. They did state it on their FAQ, i just didn't read it.

So ignore my previous rants fellow friends.

Conclusion:
If this is your first time using Zinio and you are just starting to migrate towards paperless magazine reading, have no fear. Every latest subscriptions and issues from now on will be available on your beloved PlayBook as well. So, have no worries and just make good use of that $25 credit (Form) that will be coming (i think/hope). Just keep in mind that if you are looking for back issues, make sure that they are available for the PlayBook first. Safest bet would be to just browse the store within the app.

I have never purchased subscriptions like this online, so I wanted to make sure others were aware of this too so you're not blindsided down the road.


When you click a magazine and it takes you to the page to add to your cart, there is a little box to the right that is automatically checked off for automatic billing once your subscription is done. UNCHECK this before adding to your cart, if you do not want to be automatically billed after your subscription ends, even if you just use the $25 credit to subscribe. They will bill you and keep sending you the new magazines otherwise.

Research In motion already has to abide by similar terms to operate in the UK if I recall. I imagine other countries are doing the same thing. Nanny state indeed. Parents seem to prefer corporations and government decide what is appropriate rather than taking personal responsibility. "Hey you can't read/see mature content on our tablet, " says Google, "But please feel free to browse for it through our search engine." < cough, cough >

Did u get it 2 work by chance? I ordered the same (Maxim) and its not showing on my app. When I log into my account online it shows its there but can't find it on my app. Anything would help...thanks

What f***ing rubbish! Inside the app in ordered the Maxim subscription to only have it limited to other devices. I'm also only seeing one of my national geographic magazines, and I'm more than certain they have previous months that are non interactive. Zinio, you're getting one disappointed customer laying down hurt tomorrow.
