Anyone else having issues with words with friends locking up while playing? Freezes constantly and android player needs to be restarted to fix.

Any suggestions on a fix?

It happens to me once in a while. I just usually wait for the screen to pop up that says "Force Restart", or whatever it says, and I hit that. The game comes back up pretty quick.

Its the Android App player. Really doesn't matter what app I use, when using the player it sometimes freezes and crashes.

Yep same here - I am not liking the android player much for many reasons. Have been buttering up Xlabz for a new word game

Yup. Periodic lockups. It is afterall, not an official app.

Maybe we all should specify which version? Is there a way to tell when running the app? Any ABOUT screen.

I am amazed at my patience. Playing a complete stranger and taking days to complete a game as I or the other side go about the rest of our lives.

I haven't run into a ton of the general Android Player problems people have mentioned, but definitely issues when running Words With Friends. It freezes up constantly on me.

Yep flaky. I have a new version on my PB my wife has a slightly older version. Her's seems to be a bit more stable. I can post the version numbers in this thread when I get home.

I have 4.73 installed and it seems to work really well.

Mine is 4.70 and is not stable. Wife has 4.54 it seems better, but I haven't tried it much. I will try upgrading to 4.73 to see how that version is.

Im a little confused... and excuse me if I'm being a n00b, but how on earth do you have Words with Friends? It's not showing up in my Appworld... ?

It's a sideloaded Android app, you need the bar file and then you can port it to your PlayBook, most of these apps lag so if you don't mind go ahead, I can't stand it, but love words with friends so put up with it til something better comes along..

Amen to that! I had older version. Will upgrade next few days and hope for some stability.

I think I get less freeze ups on the PB than I did on my android phone, so it was no big deal to me

I don't see anything on any of the screens showing version number. I opened DDPB to see if that might help but I "ADDED" two versions of W/F so I don't know which one is actually installed on the pb. There does not seem to be an About Screen.

Hmm, I wonder if some of the Launchers/TaskKiller/etc might how that info.

Thanks. Looks like I have 4.70 running. I will update to 4.73 as others in the thread mentioned and see if that helps.

Yes, mine freezes quite a bit also, but I have another issue. The games don't refresh? Does anyone have this problem? Or how to do it? it's probably just me lol, but would appreciate the help

Will installing a new version wipe out my current game/opponent? After THIS game, will it retain the opponents for rematch?

4.70 is what I have and it freezes like crazy. It seems most of the people in the thread who says it's running fine are using 4.73. So that is what I am going to try.

I would guess erasing it would wipe your current games, but maybe someone else can verify. One of many pains of having to sideload. You can't run a normal app update.

I was running 4.70 and it was freezing like crazy.....also wouldnt refresh without leaving the app. I just sideloaded 4.73 (without wiping or removing 4.70 and it works fine. It updated to 4.73 and kept my old and current games with no issues.
