I have this app and I think it's pretty cool. However you need to back out of the Keyboard in order to submit the text. Hitting enter will clear the field when you exit the keyboard.
That's my only gripe really.
Perhaps a v2 would include some animations (sine wave for text) or fades or something. Maybe scrolling vertically. If you need some ideas I could catalog a few. :)
Agreed w all the above, I purchased and think its a fun app. I'm happpy to support developers, especially those on crackberry!
Damn... I was really looking forward to get screamager for free only to find out it's not free anymore..
I keep being amazed about people who can afford the luxury of a 500-700 dollar tablet but make this kind of statement. If everyone would think like this, no developer would be working on playbook apps except for some homebrewers maybe and we would have very little hope that all currently missing apps that we'd all like to see would ever show up in AppWorld.
It well worth the low price it costs!
So TheMarco - I saw and downloaded the second update in AppWorld just now. Thanks! (more updates than any other app I have!)
Question - how long from when you uploaded it to when it was available? (ie whats their turnaround on the updated version?)
Marco, I downloaded them both. I started life as an electrical engineer, yet I never really mastered RPN. But your rendition of the HP is so nostalgic I bought it even though I may never use it much. Nice job.
Actually only a few days this time. Funny thing is I submitted an update to the calculator earlier (it adds audible keyboard feedback) but that one is still waiting...
Regarding the calculator app that you have created; specifically, the statisics portion of it, which formula did you use to calculate linear regression - I presume its the common Pearson formula? Also, on the write up in App World, it indicates that you can calculate standard deviation - is this using the formula for population or sample (can you select which method you need, i.e., n or n-1)? Lastly, is there the ability to calulate "median" and display a "mode" for the data that is being entered?
Sorry for asking so many specific questions - the program looks very good.
PS - Have you thought about making a Playbook app that handles t-tests (test of mean differences between two groups)? Gee, I dont want much do I :)
I just picked up a copy and its pretty fun. My daughter was having fun with it too.
IIRC, this is the first app I've ever PAID for on any platform. Wanted to help out a CB member and to promote PB app sales in general. Going to check out the animation tools too.
All the statistics stuff works exactly like on a HP15C. I used the manual for it during development. Search Google for 'hp15c.pdf'. PM me if you can't find it!
Yeah, what he said. I don't think I ever owned one of these calculators, but I always thought they were really cool looking. Seeing it for the PB makes me want the app. Nostalgia is certainly for $5 to me.
I looked up the Standard deviation thing. I wrote the core of this app in 2009 for the WebOS version so I don't remember everything right off the bat :)
It's the sample standard deviation. If you want the population standard deviation you can add the mean of the data before pressing g, s.
so use the x with a line above it and then add that to your data first.
There's no median function but i can think about adding that. If you send me some info on how exactly that should be calculated for both single items and x,y pairs I can look into it.
Finally what do you mean by 'a mode for the data entered' ?
Hah, I got copied. But that's the best kind of flattery, right? :)
BlackBerry App World - Led Scroller
I LOVE his description thou! The part about telling a girl you fancy her! that had my ROFL!
Hey Marco, I got a problem, and maybe it's related to be getting the app when it was free. It says there is an update, BUT then when I try to upgrade, it craps out and the install fails.
I'd love to see an option to be able to FLASH a word instead of scrolling.
This is easy to do if you roll your own animation (untitled). The built-in 'Stop' animation does this. I didn't add this as a core function because most words would be too long in the font used by the app. If you roll your own you can use a smaller font to fit more letters on the screen, or use two lines :)
