Spoiled by Bard's Tale... what's next?
So, after playing through Bard's Tale and loving every minute of it I've been looking around App World for other RPG's to play, but have to admit I'm feeling a bit disappointed:
I tried Eternal Legacy... this just got boring pretty quick, I didn't find anything to keep me interested...
I am playing Earth and Legend, however, this has become old after a week or so too... there just isn't enough variation in the game to keep my interest, it just seems to be a leveling grind and little more...
Bard's Tale had an awesome humor element to it, there were many options for approaching the game in terms of developing your characters skill set, equipment and weaponry. You could also implement different strategies through the various companions you could summon, each with different pro's and con's. I used to be an Anarchy Online addict for many years, what attracted me to that MMORPG was immense ability to customize your characters and the vast world available.
So my question is this... is there something else out there that I'm missing? Does anyone know of an RPG style game that might fit the bill?
Russ.

Pocket RPG maybe...
Its cheap,at least, but NO GAME for the PB can compare to The Bards Tale...
We just have to be RPGless...

Yup, I think Bards Tale set a pretty high bar for other rpg's to measure up to. I hope there is a sequel!
I'm downloading pocket rpg right now, let's see how this goes!

Re: Spoiled by Bard's Tale... what's next?
There are literally thousands of RPGs availabe for the Playbook if you make use of the many emulators that have been ported to this platform. DosBox may be your best bet if you're looking for some true (and complex) classics. How well these games translate to a touchscreen is another question. ;)

I'm working through BT right now. Good fun. The only other PB game that's really hooked me like this is Duke Nuke Em. Old school but still pretty good...and funny.
Spoiled by Bard's Tale... what's next?
Russ, Pocket RPG gave me some hours of gameplay, but the thrill of TBT...
You can try Samurai Vengeance II. It's not a RPG, but it has a good gameplay...
Yes, you can use the PSone emulator to play the FFs, but its not the same thing...
You can try Diablo I for the PS1 tough, but for what i played(in the console) the game sucked...

Russ, imagine this on our PBs:
Diablo PSX Game Play - YouTube
Not bad...
Oh, and you can also get "Crusade of Destiny" from App World. Its a Earth and Legend style rpg...
Re: Spoiled by Bard's Tale... what's next?
Diablo looks cool, even on the old PS there. If we could get some MMORPGs on the PB that would be so awesome!
It truly has to be non linear to really hold my attention. If Bards Tale hadn't stopped play at the end of the main storyline that would have been awewome too.
Spoiled by Bard's Tale... what's next?
Russ, you should try "Bullet Time".
It's not a native RPG, but you can run around Bard's Tale style, upgrading your weapons and armours.
Plus, its cheap!
