I downloaded Splashtop Remote from App World for 4.99.
With this product you have an app running on your playbook as well as having the Splashdot Streamer on a PC (or a number of PC's).

My work PC works great as the media server streaming video and sound and it sits idle from 5pm to 8am as well as weekends.

I simply open the Splashtop on my PB, launch Hulu or Netflix on the streamer. Is it perfect? There is a bit of lag at times but the sound is clear and I would say it acceptable.

This works well with other presentations as well such as slide shows, music, power point etc.
For 4.99 I can access my PC at work and have a simple media server that I can use for a variety of solutions. Check it out - it is currently on sale for 4.99.

I have this on my Touchpad and it works for Netflix. A bit clunky, but better than nothing. Splashtop remote desktop itself is a great app. Happy to see if released for the PB (and just bought it too!).

    ***Warning about this program:***

There is no option to disable the remote hosts keyboard,
    mouse, and blank the screen.

Everything you do from the remote side is visible on screen by someone
    at the host side.

Also: Splashtop doesn't automatically lock the host on disconnect.
If you happen to lose your connection without 1st locking or shutting down
the host computer manually, the host login session is still active and open!
And given the host computers keyboard, mouse & screen are still unlocked -
    It's an *epic*. Security. "FAIL".

I posted a 1-STAR review (and this apps 1st!) on APP world
and its hilarious that it was DELETED and then 6 or so 5-STAR
reviews that sound like they where written by the same company
    shill appeared.

Where's my valid security concerned review?

    ***End Warning about this program.***

    Other issues:

The only way to close the app is through the PB carousel. There
are no in app menu swipe-down options whatsoever.

The app is a major battery and CPU hog. Your device *will* heat up.

And like no one could walk up and turn the screen back on?

i have been trying this but have had sudio issues.

connection pc: gigabit ethernet to router
playbook 802.11n to router with 'excellent' signal strength
    pc specs: core i7 2600k 3.4GHz; 16GB ram running win7 ultimate 64bit.

specs included to support no hardware bottleneck in the setup.

while streaming netflix over splashtop; a 1-2 second skip occurs in video evry 45-60 secs. this is tolerable and forgivable all things considered. however, though the video is crystal clear...it seems as if the audio is being overly compressed...resulting in audio cracking/popping.

    am i alone?

IMO if your worried about the keyboard and mouse being unlocked or that people can see what you're doing then you probable shouldn't be remoting into said PC. Either that or you don't want your spouse or kids seeing you watch your XXX at work

I think it is a great app and is just fine.

There are some instructions on Splashtop website to adjust settings on your virus protection software in order to help smooth out your feed. They seem to have specific instructions for common programs. If I understand correctly, as the virus protection software checks incoming and outgoing transmissions it can create some delay. Hope this helps.

Where exactly on their site? All I've been able to find is settings to make Splashtop an exception for your firewall, but that's in order to get it working in the first place, not to smooth out lag.

Hmmm. Of course, I guess one has to place a lot of faith in any app that allows remote access to a computer. But disabling firewalls and anti-virus/piracy protections makes me want to question my sanity when it comes to apps like this one!!!!
