I am having a problem backing up my apps through the desktop software and I want to do a security wipe as I have no idea what my WiFi sharing password is.

I am just wondering, what will happen to the apps I paid for through app world. Will app world recognize me after the wipe and allow me to download the paid apps for free?

I believe the paid apps are tied to your blackberry ID and you can redownload them through appword.

I did a security wipe recently on my old Tour. I didn't lose any apps, just had to reset permissions and enter the activation codes on 3 of them. No biggie.

you are correct, RIM mentions this (about the blackberry ID) in their playbook tutorials online.
