Meh, don't get your hopes up.

PS: I looked in beta zone and the program is full to subscribe to. Its been open since 16th January, so I'd expect a beta release (and an apk leak) soon.

There was already a modified version of the original .apk, for Gingerbread devices, but not all of them, and not PlayBook. Some devices needed some modification of where the library files wind up, and you can't do that without root access, I understand (so no PlayBook.)

BBM For Android 2.3.6 (GINGERBREAD) Has a disclaimer about 'lots of errors'...but adventurous souls may want to give it a Crack or a hack.

I'm surprised nothing is being said about the leaked gingerbread apk for BBM. My old Android phone is now 4.2.2 so I can�t try it. Apparently it doesn't work on the PlayBook when converted and side loaded

Think it has something to do with the fact that BlackBerry said it was a leak that staggered the first launch

Well, just an update of sorts, the gingerbread version of BBM was leaked. It doesn't work on the playbook:

Also worth noting is the fact that even though it’s a Gingerbread version of BBM, it hasn’t worked for us on the PlayBook. We’ve tried converting the apk to a BAR, but upon loading, it always force closes on us.

Is there any hope to get BBM on the PlayBook? There should be a browser/desktop version also. Not asking for much, even the side loaded android one would be fine if it worked.

Dunno how many times it has to be said, but not everyone has a blackberry phone. I know, take a moment to digest that because it is such an incredible thing to believe.
