I have had a mooch around the forums and FAQ but cannot find a way of doing this with my playbook,anyone have any advice that this is even possible?

You may map your NAS drive to a network drive, then use LAN File Explorer to access it and stream videos.
Thats how i do it aswell! Works like a charm!
