I have tried to access my work computer but when I connect it takes me into the main server desktop.

I have entered our company external ip address in the settings, could this be the problem?

Yes. You will need to VPN into your network first and then remote to your pc ip address. If you don't have the ability to VPN in then you could try something like dns2go to access you pc address.

You can also use port forwarding in your router. This stuff isn't specific to the Playbook, it's part of some remote control configurations.
