In the Playbook calculator app if you square a negative number, the calculator will give you a negative answer. A negative times a negative is a positive, not a negative. I don't know anyway to report this to blackberry. Maybe someone here can help.

not happening to me...I'm not getting a negative answer
I think the calculator does the 'squaring' before the '-', hence gives -25.
If you put -5 in brackets, ie (-5)^2, it correctly answers 25.
I dont believe this is a bug, as without the brackets it is treating it a 0-(5^2), which is -25.
There's no glitch. You have to put the number in brackets like a normal math function. If there is no brackets, the squared just goes to the number, which would result in a negative answer. Examples: -6^2 = -36 BUT (-6)^2 = 36
Bigj has it right, except it's not just the calculator that does the squaring first. That's how it is done is math. If it's not in brackets, the squared just goes to the number, not to the sign (negative).
That makes since. Another calculator i used gave me a positive number without brackets. I got two different answers, but i guess the input depends on the make of the calculator.
