Isn't Acrobat built-in?
Acrobat only a simple reader. I want highlight, notes.
Also, the current Adobe Reader does not view, at least I cant get it to do it, any pdf documents that have forms in it, i.e., blank spaces so that you can write in a response - think like a tax form or a goverment form. Regular pdf look fine, but anything that I have tried to open where I would enter data or a response in doesnt.
It also would be great to be able to highlight the text and embed notes directly into the document. This would be ideal for students and others.
Screw highlighting i just want the ability to search through a document i have manuals that can be a couple hundred pages I would love to just be able to search a specific topic or phrase.
The included reader is too primitive. It doesn't even restore the last viewed page and zoom setting... The PlayBook definitely needs a better pdf reader.
YES, totally agree.
Am i the only that thinks this is a big deal killer? Its as if rim expects people only to play need for speed and surf flash web sites on the playbook
This is a Big Deal Killer for me too.
I am an architect, and I need to notate PDF drawings on the fly. I also am a PC/Blackberry guy - the only Apple product I own is an I-Pod my daughter talked me into getting a few years ago. I recently bought a Playbook 64 used, and am hoping it will grow to become a business tool, in addition to internet browser and game playing device.
Folks I work with - and who work for me - are already using GoodReader on IPads; it is becoming a core part of the work flow.
I may have to break down and get an Ipad soon, just to keep up.
Help!
QPDF Notes is what you want.
+1. I installed qPDF (got it from goodereader) the other day; it's a vast improvement over the built-in one from Adobe.
GoodReader is my fave, more full featured than qPDF, way faster for large files etc.
Does it add notes and graphical markup, fill in forms? Or just a reader? Sideloaded I assume as I can't find it in the appstore.
IOS only. Notes and annotations for sure, but I've never done PDF forms. The Adobe Reader on both iOS and Android will do all three, just not on Playbook.
Try Repligo, it is one of the better PDF apps on PB
The bundled pdf reader has been one of my biggest disappointments... And the fact that the ports of Adobe Reader under Android and iOS are better doesn't doesn't make much sense to me (especially considering the apparent relation between Adobe and RIM...). As an alternative I also use Repligo (tried qPDF but I prefer Repligo).
Android apps aren't smooth under the PB Android emulator (adding Android support was more of a patch than a feature)... I would prefer a native alternative and since they insist on bundling Adobe Reader then at least they should make it useful.
Repligo Reader is the closest and best PDF reader so far.
Sideload I assume or the appworld search is even worse than I thought.
Yes sideloaded...
But App World search is indeed bad (if you search "Pdf" "qdf" isn't listed in the results XD ).
Yes, you need to sideload. The latest version I have come across is 4.0, and it works like a charm on my PlayBook.
