    Hello everyone
This is the update I got from ooVoo support on ooVoo being available for the Playbook 2.0 update. Does anyone have any better news or confirmation. I want to video chat but most of my friends dont have Playbook, I am hoping for a better alternative. Let us know, Thanks

    Hi,
Thanks for asking about using ooVoo on your mobile device! Our application is available for over 300 devices running Android or iOS operating system.
To see if your device is supported, please go to the Apps market and search for ooVoo. If your device is supported then you will be able to install ooVoo.
If your device is noted 'not compatible' it could be for several reasons, as noted below, and could be added in an upcoming release.
These are some of the criteria required for your mobile device to support our application:
    1) Newly released devices go to ooVoo performance testing and take about 30-45 days to be evaluated and released. Check back the middle of next month.
    2) Operating system: Android Froyo, Gingerbread, Honeycomb OR iOS 4 or iOS 5. We will add support for Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) later in January.
    3) The CPU must be at least 1Ghz; if it is less than 1Ghz the device cannot support the application
    4) Your device must have a front camera
    5) Rooted devices or devices running custom ROMs are not formally supported, some work and some do not
    6) Devices running Blackberry, Symbian, Windows OS or HP WebOS are not supported
Please note that we are always testing and releasing more devices. And we do communicate all device requests to our product team!
ooVoo is also available from PC and Mac! Click here to get to our download page.

ReelPortal is a similar type communication app. It's supported on PB, iOS devices and android too. It does both video/audio and text. I use it to communicate with my friend who has an ipad2. Works great.

You can download in the from appworld.

    Hope that helps.

    Cheers

The app it self doesnt require registration of an account.

If you want to chat with your friends in a private session, both you and your friend(s) have to use the same room name so the ReelPortal server knows to put both of you in a private session.

When you run the app, you have 4 fields:
    - Name (Pick any name or use your name if you're chatting with family/friend)
    - Room (Use and advise your friend/family to use the same room so you can chat in private. I am not sure if the room name is case sensative)
    - Key (i guess this works kinda like a password to the room. you may have to provide that to your friend/family when creating the private room so they can enter)
    - Server (i leave this at defauly <last used>

When you enter the room, there will be 4 blue people pics on the right side.

The left side buttons are to select certain actions such as show text chat, enable microphone, volume up/down, pause video stream, enable/select camera.

    Hope that helps
