You need to check out GroovyNotes.
Groovy Notes is awesome!!! Well worth the money! :D
Are you now able to write free hand with Groovy Notes?
Handrite Pro (needs to be sideloaded) is good in that it will shrink your handwriting after you write so you can get a fair amount of notes on a given page.
You can install this Free Note bar and take it for a spin. Great app. A bit too many features for my taste but great for hand written notes.

Groovynotes is great. Allows you to voice record while note taking and you can also attach pics or drawings to the notes.
There are several categories or you can create your own. Notes are also searchable by date or 'tags'. Notes can be backed up to dropbox.
It's well worth the money.
Ill check them guys, thanks a lot.
Another, simple note taker is Color Notes 10 - not sure if it is too "simple", but it looks good for shorter notes and has a nice UI.
Of course, there is always Evernote - which I haven't put back on my radar since it was finally updated, but I'm hoping it became usable again on the PlayBook; I did the update, but just haven't used it yet.
Groovynotes is really very good.
To reply specifically pblakeney question, no, it's typing-oriented, although you do have a way to create and handle sketches: but basically you need to create a note first (with text title at least) then insert a drawing inside it, then draw handwritten.
Thanks for your response Herve5.....
