Need to Permanently DELETE "uninstalled" apps in App World

I found some old posts that say this is not possible. However, I really need to do this, and am hoping there is a work-around, given recent software updates for the Playbook.
When an application is deleted by the user, it goes to the uninstalled apps section of my world, so that you can reinstall without charge if you change your mind later.
However, you may have lots of free apps that were only used for a short try-out period (perhaps only a few minutes) before deleting that you want to permanently get rid of.
I'm willing to do a complete wipe and reinstall if necessary (although I've never done that before), but I think that since this is all tied to your blackberry ID that it wouldn't solve the problem.mhmediaonline likes this.06-10-12 11:50 AMLike 1 -

Wish it was possible but sadly no. It doesn't fill up your playbook once you delete it...it just remains in a list of choices on AppWorld.06-10-12 12:43 PMLike 0 -

For every person that downloaded some shady app that they now want to hide, there's someone who accidentally deleted something and they are happy to see those on their list... Can't please everyone sometimes
How would having uninstalled apps showing on your AppWorld account have anything to do with the files on your PB? In fact, they way it is designed actually HELPS you from filling up your PB. I am also getting trouble on scrolling the long list of uninstalled apps. I hope this feature will be an option in the near future. Now I'm being too cautious on installing apps on my new pb, they should have atleast "sort" this out.06-10-12 03:56 PMLike 0 -

No, what happened is that when the playbook first came out, I went through a bunch of crap apps (that people probably just wrote to get a free Playbook, and never looked at the code again) while I was looking for some useful ones. Now there is a large amount of junk in my list that I will NEVER load again, and would be happy not to have to look at again. It's not a big deal, and I don't scroll through it that often, but I do tend to wipe when I load a new PB OS, or Developer beta, and have to sort through that list each time to reload what I want. It just would be nice to be able to hide apps that you know you are done with because they have become obsolete, or were never what they should have been from the beginning.

I agree it is annoying but it doesn't take space...try this: Turn off both WiFi and BT then open App World. The only thing visible is what is installed. The database is not on your device it is on App World servers. I know this doesn't help with the annoying part but at least you know its not wasting space on your PB.

A very simple fix for this could be for RIM to permanently delete uninstalled "free" apps, but let you get back "paid" apps.
There really is no valid reason to retain the deleted free apps.
If the upcoming BB10 is to be successful, then RIM really needs to take care of all of these loose ends.06-11-12 04:02 PMLike 3 -

Good luck finding 'big apps' you want to re-install in a sea of 100's of apps.
Imagine if I downloaded every free app in appworld just to try out. It's be a pain in the tush to scroll through the uninstalled apps list just to find the apps you really want to reinstall.
What I don't get is that on a BB Phone, you can 'hide' uninstalled apps but no on the Playbook.Last edited by narci; 06-11-12 at 04:33 PM.

Ron I'm so glad you are such an expert on what would make BB10 successful...I was worried there for a moment. I guess you don't have a BlackBerry phone because the phone does the same thing from BB 4 thru 7 but they haven't been successful either in by your standards.A very simple fix for this could be for RIM to permanently delete uninstalled "free" apps, but let you get back "paid" apps.

There should be a way to delete that list. I understand the argument that its there incase you accidently delete and app or you wipe your device you can easily add programs back.
BUT you should be able to delete your uninstalled list. Kind of like a recycling bin on your pc. You have to delete it twice. Once from your documents and then from the trash bin.
I tried many apps over the years and many of them I know for certain I will not install again. I'd like to remove them permantly.06-12-12 08:05 AMLike 0 -

They really need to enact being able to remove an uninstalled app from the list. One time my GF accidentally wiped her PB with DM thinking she was updating it. I went to help restore what she had and it was terrible because she must have downloaded over 100 apps, trying them and then uninstalling them. Having to search through that laundry list to find the ones she wanted was a nightmare. Everytime you choose to re-install an app, you get bumped back to the top of the list and have to scroll back down again. I have about 5 apps that I consider important and will retain, and expect that I may find another 5 very useful apps per year over the next 4-years. That means after 5-years, I may have a total of 25 apps installed.
However, I also like to try "free" apps -- perhaps even 3 per day (or 1,000 per year)! -- but that means I'll have only 25 installed apps after 5-years that I want to keep, but 5,000 uninstalled apps that RIM will continue to display in my app world.
This discourages people from trying free apps, and is really not needed. When I had an HP Touchpad, I could delete an app for good, but if I went to reinstall later, the app store would remember that I had paid for it previously, and not charge me for the reinstall. It would be nice, but are people really NOT trying apps because if they don't like them, it will be on the Uninstalled list? Really?? What if you DO like it? How often is this actually impacting you?

It is not a big deal but it is obvious there are users who would like this feature, including me.
