MKV Support?
Hello folks,
Although O/S 2 is a major improvement and I'm very happy with it, I still can't believe that RIM still does not support the MKV format! Nearly all my movies and TV shows are in this format!!!
Is anyone aware of an Android app (.bar) that can do this? I've had a good look but haven't managed to find anything.
Thanks

Bummer, I am actually in the process of loading .mkv movies in my Playbook.

Sorry, MKV is actually supported in OS 2! I can see the icon of the video clip but the only issue is the audio, it needs to be in either mp3 or AAC format! Bummer...so I guess it'll be a hit and miss then with regards to movies and shows! I thought RIM settled their issues with Dolby...

There are mkv converters that will convert it to proper audio. I use mkv2vob. Playbook is not the only one that has problems with some mkv audio - I have other devices that have the same issue and this prog just converts it really fast. Check it out.

I know the OP may not have had the chance or may have just noticed this when upgrading but this issue has been addressed in about 5 or more separate threads already. Please search for topics and help reduce redundancy.

Do they support Windows media and AVI now? What about subtitles? Most of my movies I ripped from handbrake in MP4 which is partially supported.

I haven't been here from the start but OS 1 has supported .wmv and .avi for a while now. It may have been your audio codec that prevented your files from being played correctly.
