I deleted my account configuration and added it again (to sync with my gmail account). Now the messages app is downloading ALL my emails i have at gmail!!!!

How can I stop this?

I set the "messages sync timeframe" for 7 days. The"messages sync interval" is greyed out at "manual".

Account /Gmail /advanced settings. Turn your wifi off also.

Wow, maybe a hard reset and if that doesnt work then delete andvreadd the act?

Have you tried doing a Hardware reset on your PlayBook as suggested? You can do so by pressing all three buttons at the Top of your Tablet at the same time for a few seconds, you can help yourself using 2 hands and starting with the Volume keys, then wait untill the screen shuts down and the PlayBook starts it reboot cycle.
