My PB "message app" under "Blackberry Bridge" shows emails on the BB phone, but not text messages. Is that the way it works for the community, or am I just lucky? I figured the messages app would show them all.

That's the way it works for everyone. The bridge does not do text messages.

There is an app called phone remote that let's you control your phone from the PB. Both devices have to be on the same wifi network. By no means does it replace a native option but its helpful at times. Mostly when I'm home upstairs and I get a text I can see my phones screen and reply to the text.
An app for your phone that will send the txt msgs to you PB email client named SMS Bridge works well for me.
I hope RIM does get some of the basics done soon.
