I have ES File Explorer set up correctly. I can access my PC from my playbook but when I click on a video it will not play? Am I doing something wrong?

Love to check it out, however i do not know wich app you mean. Could you be more specific; perhaps give us a link to the internet store page?

It works really well...find the file you want to play, then hold your finger down on it until you get a menu...you can't play it directly.

Once you see the menu, choose "Open as" and choose "Video". If you have multiple video media players to choose from, then make a choice and play the video.

    Works like a charm.

    Good luck.

Thank you!!! Worked perfect. Another question if I may. Is there anyway to use ES to play videos outside my Lan? Via bridge etc? Or from another wifi network?

ES File Explorer is an android app that is sideloaded.

Via bridge is easy, but since the official 2.0 doesn't like to stream over bluetooth nicely.
In esfe settings, scroll down and check the box/enable "up to root"
    Now leave the settings.

    Press back
when you press back , it will go from the /sdcard/ to /
    There's you'll find a folder called "blackberry"
When your phone is bridged, inside the "blackberry" folder there will be folders for your memory card and device memory.

Bridge streaming works better for music, buts its still not pretty

Edit: haven't tried ftp or net, but they should both work. Net is for dropbox sugarsync and box.net integration.

ftp is probably a good option for playing from outside the network

I spend a lot of time in my car doing sales calls. What I would like to do is access my pc at home with my playbook and ES to play videos. Is there anyway to use ES for that?

I have tried splashtop and I got the dreaded sound chirping everyone was talking about. I got my money back. Spashtop said the problem many were reporting was fixed in the new release. It wasnt. ISo far I have tried Spashtop, VLC (it should be removed from app world), ES File, ORB (useless) and many others. To date I have not been able to access videos remotly to any satisfaction. Oh and by the way I have excellent speeds on my home network. @ megs upload and 50 down. My slingbox works perfect office PC to home PC but sling doesnt make an app for Playbook and most blackberry phones. I have been at this now for months. The search goes on.

Where could I download the ES file explorer. I assume this is for Sony ES AVE gear. Also...Media controller for Sony Televisions.

Since we're on the topic figured I ask.

    Thanks

Yep, ES is pretty unstable with several of its features. Get LAN file explorer for streaming. Ghost commander is an app world android port which will also do smb without needing to set up FTP.

I use ES on my android but several of its best features suck on the PB sideload

Get LAN file explorer for streaming << no free trial so I won't get burned again. Plus if it is named LAN will it do remote streaming?

I've had success with streaming a video externally (wifi at work) using ES Explorer from my FTP server at home (which is setup using dynamic dns). It takes a little over a minute to load the video once I select the option to play as a video. It is just awesome to be able to stream a video over the internet from my FTP server (which is just a USB drive connected and shared out on my ES4200) on my Playbook.
